Hi European followers. In Pittsburgh, we are excited for 12 weeks of parental leave for pregnant folks. Baffling, I know. Good news as well, though.

Allegheny County Executive Sara Innamorato has signed a historic paid parental leave policy, ensuring 12 weeks of paid leave for eligible workers. https://triblive.com/news/health-now/innamorato-signs-allegheny-countys-new-parental-leave-policy/  #AlleghenyCounty

In my classes, I let students reflect on their experiences with sex ed. It's mind-blowing what stories I hear. - Evidently nothing about female* enjoyment - Separate classes; phallically assigned folks are not expected to understand periods - nothing about boundary-keeping

As much as I critique AI, searching for some simple stuff on Duckduckgo has become almost impossible these days. Ex. I reviewed an article and wanted my comments - evidently - to be anonymous. The first 5 search results were all nonsense and clearly written by AI. Quick q to GPT: found it.

I do not allow smart glasses in the clinic space. The environment needs to foster open reflective dialogue, this cannot be achieved if other parties such as Meta are in the room with us. As a bonus, the myopic patient can easily take place on the couch; there's nothing for them to see anyway.

(…) In Spanje, denk ik.’"

In Pittsburgh I can choose between neglected sidewalks or streets where cars drive 50mph.

In Stavanger, Norway 🇳🇴, the bicycle paths have sensors to trigger the traffic light the lights to change. That means no stopping to press the beg button. Amazing! 🤩🚲 #yycBike #Stavanger #Norway

America's largest #windfarm is now fully operational, marking a major milestone in the transition to #renewableenergy. The massive project consists of hundreds of wind turbines spread across multiple sites generating enough electricity to power one mio homes www.eia.gov/todayinenerg... #ActOnClimate

"France passed a single law and instantly unlocked 11 gigawatts of #solarenergy — without using new land. In 2023, France's government mandated solar canopies over all car parks larger than 80 spaces. The scale was enormous: There are 400,000 parking areas across France #ActOnClimate #Renewables

Cycling to work reduces risk of death by up to 20%. Copenhagen gives cyclists tax incentives to commute because their productivity is higher (less days off sick). This stuff should not be controversial. Politicians really need to step up on active travel #cycling

I am deeply saddened about the passing of Dr. Brent Robbins. A true innovator, a great contributor to the field of psychology, and such a warm human being. Wishing his family and friends strength in these difficult times.

Biking saves lives.

Paris urban biking investment helps cut pollution in half: “Between 2005 and 2024, levels of nitrogen dioxide and fine particulate matter — 2 of the most harmful pollutants to human health — have been slashed by 50% and 55%, respectively.” Via @momentummag.bsky.social momentummag.com/paris-proves...

OK, I reached a new level of 'wisdom'. During a presentation of some of my students they showed a QR code. Instead of scanning it, I took a photo of the code. The digital train has definitely departed without me. #choochoo

Who would have thought that riding a bike is the healthier option.
