Sport radio is on its latest bout of, “One more managerial change will turn around Manchester United”, when the whole enterprise remains fundamentally, perpetually cursed by a takeover expressly designed to bleed dry a club and enrich a family - cheerily waved through by a certain Alex Ferguson.

The Government™ has made an ad about all these protests happening around the world, and it’s surprisingly honest and informative.

Really interesting article. Shows how far wide of the mark most commentators on this side of La Manche have been.

Approving the Jackdaw gas field solves none of our problems, while contributing to the existential crisis of climate breakdown. The government has privileged special interests above the general interest. It's a shameful, cowardly decision.

HGJohn reposted

Unthinkable that Labour has doubled down on fossil fuels by approving Jackdaw – a total betrayal of future generations & contradiction of govts own climate goals. The science is clear: the only way to secure a prosperous future in the face of climate breakdown is to keep fossil fuels in the ground.

Lie, waffle, dissemble. Coached answer to a question. She knows that drilling for gas is incompatible with tackling climate change. It’s all about the money.

On going ahead with Jackdaw "@zackpolanski.bsky.social.. says this is a betrayal of all of our futures.. do you really think this is the right thing to do?" Miatta Fahnbulleh: "Well look I do.. we have seen that climate change is here.. heat waves, wild fires, drought.. its a pragmatic decision"

The standard of punditry in the Wolves game is awful. “The keeper saves it from going wide.” (He touched a shot off target to give away a corner).

For shits and giggles! Apparently this is socially acceptable.

Republican candidate Brandon Herrera: “I fucking hate cyclists. Jesus fucking Christ! ….I had fucking fantasies of running them all over and, you know, maybe one of these days I will. …I have thought about ways that I could get away with it.”

It takes about 50kwh of electricity to produce 1kg of hydrogen. A hydrogen car could drive around 70 miles on that kg. If you put that 50kwh into an EV instead, it could drive at least 150 miles. Why are we still talking about hydrogen powered vehicles?

It’s come to something when a photographer has to get legal advice, before displaying this photo in an exhibition, due to the risk of being prosecuted as a terrorist, but that’s exactly what I had to do yesterday. What a state this country is in.

A woman weeps over the genocide in Gaza as she waits to be arrested as a terrorist for holding up a piece of cardboard. Parliament Square today.

An important read. I don’t think many Britons have ever supported wanton habitat destruction to build homes and I’m astonished that the major wildlife charities are not calling out the government in this obvious con.

Among Keir Starmer's worst deeds were his legislative and rhetorical attacks on nature protection. In those two wasted years, we spiralled backwards, even from the Tory legacy. At this week's biodiversity summit, the Burnham govt should pledge to turn that round. www.theguardian.com/commentisfre...

There’s too much caution about calling Farage and Reform racist. They have no such timidity when they threaten to strip us of our rights and protections, to mass deport people and kill them at sea. They routinely insult, perv, vilify and hate people. You don’t ‘nice’ that away. You call it out.

Kemi Badenoch wants to exempt the family home from inheritance tax. But that creates a perverse incentive for elderly people to *upsize* to save IHT. That could double the cost of the policy, and push £100bn+ from savings into housing. A 🧵 on bad tax cuts.

I suspect the real reason for the suspended ban was to avoid an appeal where they knew they'd all be subjected to the Tonda Death Stare again. After every. Single. Question. #Saintsfc

Well. It's over. At last! A suspended ban and a fine. There'll be plenty that are unhappy, but given that the club have already been severely punished and the time it has taken the FA to get to this point, it seems fair. #Spygate #Saintsfc
