My erosion filter is out! Video, blog post, and shader source. It emulates erosion without simulation, so it's fast, GPU friendly, and trivial to generate in chunks. Explainer video: www.youtube.com/watch?v=r4V2... Companion blog post: blog.runevision.com/2026/03/fast... #ProcGen #vfx #GameDev

It turns out that basic economics 101 works after all and if you build more housing, housing prices drop. You don't need rent control, you don't need minimum affordable housing ratios, you don't need more regulations, you just need to build more housing. www.pew.org/en/research-...

Alberto Mielgo finds a previously hidden middle ground between abstract, exaggerated, explosive, and expressionistic stylization, and a harsh, immediate, realistic depiction of our reality. Unique. Unmistakable. In my opinion, he is one of the greatest artists of our time. youtu.be/FIvoPK-1t5w?...

The blue channel was originally just to add silt being kicked up but ended up used for more general long-lasting interations. It's used to carve out a path in the surface debris and the normal derived from this channel allows us to push the UVs apart a bit so it feels like you're moving it around.
I wish more game studios realized that asset fidelity, where most of development budget goes today, is way less important than framing, lighting & atmosphere. Lo-fi assets + hi-fi cinematography is going to be a key style in the coming years. src: x.com/manofdutch/s...

Credit to @timsoret.bsky.social for teaching this lesson back on X: A quick, simple, and nondestructive way to check your art's values is to create a new layer > fill it with black > change the blending mode to "color" or "hue" (for me, they both do essentially the same thing, I am using CSP)
