The corporate quislings have absolutely no idea the damage they have done to their brands and future earnings by bending the knee.

PSA: Warby Parker sucks. I thought they were inexpensive and convenient. They are neither. If you call a local store with a basic question, you are sent to a call center who will give your question to the store who will get back to you at some later time. Fuck that. Never using them again.

"A dozen orcs stormed the Palantir offices in Seattle this week to apply for jobs at the surveillance tech company. Palantir's militarized AI products attracted the horde of orcs, who hoped that their history of serving the Dark Lords would land them a gig. Unfortunately, Palantir didn't bite." 🤣

Since 1979, worker productivity is up 93.7%. Typical worker pay is up only 32.7%. The gains kept flowing, they just stopped flowing to the people generating them. Would a guaranteed income floor give workers enough leverage to close that gap, or is it too structural for UBI alone to fix?

I've cut already Disney, Peacock and HBO Max. I think my wife has Amazon Prime, and I really want to get rid of Netflix, but I fear my kids will revolt.

Wajahat Ali@wajali.bsky.social

We should make a push for mass cancellation of Disney+, Hulu, Netflix, Peacock, Paramount, HBO Max, Amazon Prime and Apple. They have all increased their prices as people are struggling to pay rent, groceries and gas. Guarantee you they'll respond to a massive boycott. All they care about is $$$

The ONLY way Trump doesn't lose the midterms is by cheating. Yet that is all he has. We must vote in huge numbers. If Trump tries to steal the election then we must flood the streets, engage in national strikes and more!!

Happy 72nd Birthday to Ruby Bridges, who at the age of 6 desegregated the New Orleans public schools. She’s younger than 30 senators and our last two presidents—and only 7 years older than Barack Obama. The past isn’t past.

American workers are taking home their smallest share of the nation's wealth since 1947 — even as corporate profits soar. Why? This chart has the answer.

I agree with this assessment. I grew up In a conservative military household and was a proud Teenage Republican when I went to college. The professors did not change my views, getting out of my bubble and learning how to think for myself changed my views.

I don’t even live in a competitive district or state, but I can smell the Republican fear and desperation about the mid terms from where I sit. I like that smell.

AOC endorsed Massachusetts Sen. Ed Markey for reelection. Bro is 80. AOC endorsed an 80 year old white guy for six more years? I heard Sen. Markey in person at an event a few years ago and he was rambling, seemed unaware of the purpose of the event, seemed ready for assisted living. Yeesh.

Bro is a pathological liar. Some of the idiots who voted for him must be realizing it now too. ‘Starting on Day 1, we will end inflation and make America affordable again, to bring down the prices of all goods.’ Campaign rally, Bozeman, Mont., Aug. 9, 2024 www.nytimes.com/interactive/...

Clarence Thomas says the 14th Amendment should be read narrowly because it was written for formerly enslaved people. By that logic, the 2nd Amendment was written for muskets, not AR-15s. Funny how that kind of originalism only shows up when it's convenient.

I don’t know man, who is “the Democratic Party” if it’s not the voters?Democratic voters choose candidates, not party leaders. And party leaders need to listen to what voters are telling us - and right now they are demanding our party be bolder.

Jaime Harrison@jaimeharrison.bsky.social

I say this with no ill will or animosity: if you hate the Democratic Party, then please don’t run for our nomination. Don’t use our resources. Don’t rely on our volunteers. Don’t use our infrastructure. Don’t ask Democrats to invest their time, money, and energy in your campaign.

It will actually help billionaires if we tax them more. The alternative is pitchfork time. They should accept the taxes…

Scott Horton@robertscotthorton.bsky.social

The growing wave of progressive populists understand that raising taxes on billionaires is overwhelmingly popular — 77% of voters support doing so, including 71% of Independents and 65% of Republicans.
