Fun times: Shplief, my mysterious budget puzzle game, is now 187/200 puzzles complete (93.5%!). I know I haven't shown much of it, though! I've been operating on a "build it now, polish/make it pretty later" basis. Looking forward to showing more of my next weird game real soon! ๐Ÿ˜Š

Shplief, my primary current project, a casual budget weird puzzle game, this week hit 160 puzzles (out of 200) completed. 80%! Makin' progress. ๐Ÿ’ช๐Ÿ’ช๐Ÿ’ช More info to come...

Started full-time at a new job today. :) Itโ€™s been a journey, but ultimately a good thing for me and my family. For one thing: I am leveraging a much-shorter commute (from one hour one way, to now about 200 seconds) to reclaim a couple hours of my day, along with shedding other stressors too.

In about 24 hours I'll be sitting down for an interview in hopes for a change of career (and more stability and less stress). Could alter my life dramatically and change everything from this point forward. No big deal. But I really do hope it goes well.

hello publisher. yes, thank you for your time. okay, here is my pitch: Terrible Indie Game. it's a card-collector roguelike with inconceivably massive skill trees. it's a few years behind on the zeitgeist for every possible design trend. every joke is dated to february of 2009. i need $200,000. thx.

Hey indie devs. Any tips on how to maintain creative momentum even when you're not "feelin' it"? I know steady, consistent progress is the key to *everything* but I find it difficult in those times when "real life" is wearisome and mentally draining. ๐Ÿ˜”

love when an evening of game development is spent mostly on troubleshooting a finicky issue yeah love those nights oh my grit teeth? it's a smile, totally, i promise love troubleshooting

so uhhh the creator of Wordle released a new game called Parseword and, spoiler alert, if you enjoy that sort of 'cryptic crossword' thinking -- you'll be ready for my upcoming game Shplief (in fact Shplief will be way easier lol)

Aftermath@aftermath.site

Wordle creator's new game is definitely not as chill as Wordle aftermath.site/parseword-wordle/

forcing myself to finish my current couple projects (i'm actually making good consistent progress, i promise!! lol) by getting *really* excited about the one *after* those brainhack gang rise up or something

An example of whimsy in games that I am always delighted to remember: The celebratory ostrich in Championship Bowling (NES). How strange! How random! How wonderful!

FL Studio, where Ctrl + B is the keyboard shortcut to... copy, or duplicate... hm, how to remember this... BOOMplicate? Boom, there it is again! Bazooka now there's twoka! Uhh... bi-patterned! Er... BAMBAM thank you ma'am (x2)... buh, buh...

In the game Shplief, you will solve puzzles, and each puzzle will be numbered and have a title. Similar to a crossword, some answers you may derive merely from the clue given. Others, you will likely figure out from the options provided. And some will just feel unfair! ๐Ÿ˜

well, it's Mario Day. here's a reminder of a really cool thing we did once with @tinybookshelf.itch.io have fun, nerds.

tinybookshelf.itch.ioSuper Moxio Bros by TinyBookshelfAn homage to Super Mario Bros level 1-1, with art entirely by typewriter.

this wasn't some project made to *look like* our style. we typed the level. all of it. the whole thing.

One fun thing about game development: Every once in a while you have an idea (not a game concept, more of a mechanical thing), and you realize you're not sure if you can do it -- and there's only one way to find out. Put it in and try! And it's fun. ๐Ÿ™‚

staring myself down in a mirror and screaming I WON'T START ANY NEW PROJECTS THIS YEAR I WON'T START ANY NEW PROJECTS THIS YEAR I WON'T START ANY NEW PROJECTS THIS YEAR I WON'T START ANY NEW PROJECTS THIS YEAR I WON'T START ANY NEW PROJECTS THIS YEAR I WON'T--

definitely made forward progress tonight but also very much a "wow where did the time go?! ๐Ÿ˜ญ" sort of night (not nearly enough progress!!) does anyone have some spare Infinite Time i could borrow? thanks

๐ŸŽถ Now here you go again You say you want your freedom Well, who am I to keep you down? It's only right that you should Play the way you feel it But listen carefully To the sound of your loneliness ๐ŸŽต

Hm. Pretty happy with where the power-ups are at. Next: Couple new enemy designs, the power-up icons... then I think we can really start building some levels in! ๐Ÿ‘ #TyrantSlayer

So I'm working on a weird little game called Shplief. Started in October. Casual budget puzzler, touch/mouse controls. Pretty simple, modest scope. My goal was to put 200 puzzles in there for people to solve. I am at 71... a release by the end of the year feels realistic! ๐Ÿ˜Š

To the gentle gamers of Bluesky. I need your help with a very unique and specific question. What are you favorite videogame transitions/doors ex: the elevator in cyberpunk, the metro the checkpoint before dogtown The vault door in fallout etc.

*that* game (where you play an "agent" assigned to investigate what remains in office buildings abandoned by corporations) is still a few projects away ๐Ÿ˜Š

Benasaurus Wrex@benasaurus-wrex.bsky.social

Read this as "demons you can try" and right to myself, well.... pretty apropos of the direction the world is going.

VIVIFY VISUAL VOCABULARY!! (i don't think all of these are going to make the cut, but if *you* feel like you can identify most of these icons as the single word they're supposed to represent -- then YOU are ready for Shplief!) #Shplief

24 hours ago: "i really need to learn how to draw pixel explosions, i'm kinda nervous about this, art has never been my strength" now: "i think i might do nothing but draw explosions tonight"
