97. The Crow (movie, 1994) If the people we love are stolen from us, the way to have them live on is to never stop loving them. Buildings burn, people die, but real love is forever.

I came across this photo from an Ameblo blog where someone visited the filming location in Mount Aso for the live-action Attack on Titan movies. Just wonderful.

Yesterday, the popular singer and musician Liu Huan ๅˆ˜ๆฌข has passed away. Liu Huan is one of the most famous Chinese singers, being responsible for many iconic songs, including in Romance of the Three Kingdoms and the 1998 Water Margin series. His was an important voice in his generation. RIP

Was only a matter of time before I saw Legends of the Dark King. While I'm not a fan of the lore tweaks from the True Savior films/OVAs, I appreciated how contained this was, while still feeling like it belonged in the same big world through Raoh's POV. Worth a watch, I say!

This somehow got the attention of *that* side of the fandom on Twitter lol

Well damn, as someone who actually kind of enjoyed the short, I now can't look at it the same given what's come out lately.

The dumb thing I worked on and wanted to show is here!! ๐Ÿ˜† MediaOCD gift card designs!

AnimEigo@animeigo.com

The MediaOCD store now has gift cards! If you don't know what to get someone, get them the gift of choosing the Blu-rays they want! With a selection of unique card designs that will speak to their soul. Or confuse them a bit. Either one is good. mediaocd.com/product/gift...

As nice as Optimus Prime: Awakening is, it does The Thing that I dislike about stories that put themselves in the context of G1, and it's making the Cybertronian war more dire than it actually was.

For added clarification, this is not to suggest that Transformers *shouldn't* tell more mature stories. One of the best things about this franchise is how it can be molded and mended to fit literally any context. But I guess it just goes back to this refusal to move on from G1.

As nice as Optimus Prime: Awakening is, it does The Thing that I dislike about stories that put themselves in the context of G1, and it's making the Cybertronian war more dire than it actually was.

People forget that the war was almost entirely about the sustainability of Cybertron, and not casualties. Not to mention, these are robots who can actually overload on their own fuel source, and are nearly-impervious to their own laser fire. Why is there bloodlust so suddenly?

I think if you're going to make a G1 Transformers story that's about The War, you probably shouldn't theoretically set it in (a branch from) the same continuity as the very silly and funny cartoon where Prime plays basketball, because any and all justification *will* be awkward.

Awakening spoilers . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . I never thought I would hear official English-language media actually address Optimus as "Convoy." It was so surreal, but I fw it heavy.
