"Why are we still arguing about how to produce more gas when our international commitments require us to reduce fossil-fuel use rapidly" Required reading from @kevinclimate.bsky.social including the distraction of Net zero by 2050 vs. the reality of CO₂ emissions. #Climate #Jackdaw #ClimateChange

Jackdaw: a decision for last century. climateuncensored.com/jackdaw-a-de... A hastily drafted post following the UK Govt’s decision to approve further drilling & production at the Jackdaw gas field in the North Sea. Please excuse typos, non-sequiturs, etc - I wanted to get the post online today.

Fabulous to see. Would you ask Microsoft if they’re supplying spare parts to the public for when it does break/fail in the real world? #RightToRepair

I got to see how Microsoft built its MacBook Pro competitor. Deep inside Microsoft's labs the company zaps keyboards with electrostatic discharge guns, tries to break screens and trackpads, and uses robots to stress laptops in wild ways 👇 www.theverge.com/tech/1006356...

The CCC @thecccuk.bsky.social offers Heathrow a thumbs up, conditional on the massive deployment of “snake oil” technologies (SAF & GGR). Report by Tyndall researchers, building on UK Govt commitments, science & maths, reaches a very different conclusion. See: climateuncensored.com/heathrow-exp...

For years I've been told that aviation emissions are negligible, so don't worry your little head about them. But I've kept pointing out that there are - and will be - no good technical solutions, and they'll keep growing. Now we know just how big the problem is. www.carbonbrief.org/ccc-heathrow...

Global warming is set to cross 1.5°C, pushing climate risks and impacts to increasingly dangerous heights, a new UNEP report warns.   Predicted impacts include extreme weather and threats to human health and economies.

Replying to @glenpeters.bsky.social

I'm pretty confident about this.

David Ho@davidho.bsky.social

My prediction is that we will never have enough CO₂ removal (CDR), so overshoot is not a thing. We will hit 1.5°C global warming by 2030, and every tonne of CO₂ we emit will make the world warmer. Where we stop is entirely up to us, but there’s no dialing down the temperature after that.

Basically if you fart into a plastic bag, then you’ve captured more CO2 than most multi-billion $$ CCS projects. @kevinclimate.bsky.social analysis is, as always, spot on & much more scientific than my crass attempt. 👇 #Climate #CCS

Why is the selection & placement of podcast adverts still awful? Today a show served me a pre & mid roll of the same ads. First, a residential care home. Next, a celebrity podcast about newborns. That’s a targeted miss on both. I’m expecting to hear them again before the end. 😱
