27yr Berkeley resident, dad. Iowa born & raised. Truth inviolable. Harvard BA '88, Govt. I #standwithharvard. We need to understand why Iowa flipped harder from Obama to Trump than any state in the union in '16. It's not just racism, bigotry & xenophobia.

Time to reclaim our symbols, as imperfect as the union they represent may be. They were always a promise to do better, never a claim of perfection. And this promise is being violated.

There is a candidate for local office in Berkeley who refuses to disclose their campaign expenses. And they've changed treasurer three times, currently to a treasurer with no address, phone, or email. @estupido.fyi rate this campaign 1-10

Updated this chart for 2026: property taxes paid by year parcel developed in Berkeley, California. Buildings from this decade pay more taxes than everything Berkeley built in the 1970s, 1980s, and 1990s combined. Note: Tax data is current but building data ends in 2025.

Berkeley single-family-home tax summary updated for 2026-2027 tax year. The median bill is $13,485, little-changed from last year. The average bill is down to $15,665. 5% of bills are under $5k, and 5% are over $33k. This year, only 1 bill is over $100k. Color gives count in that dollar range.

91% of Berkeley property tax bills increased slower then inflation from 2025-2026 to 2026-2027. The median percentage increase was 1.6%. This is why we have to keep adding tax line items.

Imagine being Blake Johnson, an Iowa father of 3, discovering your water has 3X the legal nitrate limit. He goes to Washington for answers, and Rep. Ashley Hinson, who takes agribusiness money, reportedly RUNS AWAY and hides behind a locked door. #CostOfTrumpsCorruption

Rents for new leases of regulated 1-bed and studio apartments in Berkeley ticked down a bit in September '26, sequentially and annually, to a median $2098/month. That is the lowest of any September in a decade. Even in nominal dollars, that's lower than 2019.

For 33 years, McConnell has voted against family and medical leave for working Americans. Then he disappears from the Senate for 92 days and keeps collecting his full paycheck. Apparently, paid leave is only a problem when someone else gets it.

The narrative forming on the right that everything was going great with the Trump admin until he started the war is absurd. His approval ratings were already in the toilet before that because of everything else he was doing. The war just woke people up who don’t pay attention.

Two-thirds of NYC’s income growth since the pandemic went to the top 1%. The richest 0.001% — about 50 families — saw their average income soar from $315 million in 2019 to nearly $600 million a year. It’s time to build a city that works for everyone.

No country on Earth takes Trump’s threats seriously at this point. And Iran is chief among them. The good news: the USS Lincoln is finally headed home. Those sailors have endured enough. They deserve some relief, and to finally be reunited with their families.

I worked for New York’s largest medical center at the start of the pandemic. There were morgue trucks on the streets. They set up emergency medical tents in Central Park. Healthcare worker colleagues died. It is horrific that RFK Jr is on national TV lying that ICUs were empty.

Blanche's statement simply disregards the main point Cornyn's questioning of him established. If the slush fund/amnesty agreement were legal -- rather than the product of a a bogus collusive prosecution -- it would give Trump the legal right to enforce, and DOJ couldn't unilateraly abrogate.
