Core memory for me: I read an excerpt of My Side of the Mountain in class in first grade and wanted to read the book. I asked the school librarian if we had it. She looked in her records and said we didn't. I went looking anyway and found it. I should re-read that to see how it holds up.

A lot of you are mocking Secretary of State Marco Rubio. That's good. Keep doing that.

A Florida man was found dead in his home during a welfare check in July 2022. Weeks later, one of the officers who discovered his body moved into the home and spent years impersonating him, according to investigators.

In college I worked at a game store for just a few weeks. I'd worked years at a GameXchange in high school (and would go on to own my own game store for close to a decade later) so I was a great fit. Ex-felon owner slept on a futon in the back, gun under register. They never made a rent payment.

Every Millennial's story about the conditions that led to cutting off their shitty parent is different. Every shitty parent's story about getting cut off by their Millennial kid is the same.

This is a quietly metastasizing moral panic

I dreamed that I was a passenger in a car that was driving by Pete Hegseth. In the dream I intended to give him a thumbs down but instead I did the thumb-pinky waggle thing and I'm just so upset that I gave that man a positive greeting.
