It's a small one but I remember growing up stepping in dog shit all the time. I don't know how it happened but they've since made dog owners pick up after their pets, and now it's not a problem anymore.
Social media loves talking about how everything is getting worse. But what’s something that you’ve seen get _better_ in your lifetime?
Scott's likely right. It's the second time this sort of thing has happened to them. What I find fascinating about CA stuff: in the end it comes down to trust between orgs - or in other words, people. The ppl in charge of the browsers and OSes are now thinking: do I still trust the folks at eMudhra?
eMudhra claim they're leaving the SSL/TLS business because they're being criticised on social media. It's more likely that they've realised they will probably be fully removed anyway, so they're bowing out now. emudhra.com/en/press-rel...
I just got my driver's license weeks ago and this would be an issue where I am. Like I don't know how someone who feels they should not be on the highway, can feel like they can be on the road at all.
this article is absolute garbage and this man is a menace lines like "He prefers taking back roads because he can easily pull off if he feels a vertigo attack coming on" just barfed out with no further discussion on this man being a sociopathic freak
I'm with Kat. The worst part of all the CVEs flying around in open source software now because of AI, is everyone and their mother has to be the first to report it so the maintainers, swamped with said CVEs, don't have time to patch them.
I do not like Chainguard. You cannot get me to say a single positive thing about them as a company. Leaking a critical vulnerability in violation of an embargo is outrageous behavior even for them and they absolutely know better.

Damn, this is really bad. Mainstream browsers will probably be fine, but there is a long tail of other stuff that will be affected by this: scotthelme.co.uk/eight-bits-o...
From my time working in video stores, I can second this. Some movies never made it to theaters but were quite well liked among a small but consistent crowd. Sometimes there would be these waves of folks asking for a particular movie, who had heard about it from a friend, persisting several years.
One example that comes to mind is The Boondock Saints, which I am not sure how well it holds up but would be astonished if @1999thepodcast.bsky.social had never done an episode on, discussing both this phenomenon and the life path of its director.

Complex software behaving in unexpected and sometimes harmful ways has been a persistent problem since software was invented. The phenomenon used to be called “bugs” or “defects”, but I guess “going rogue” sounds cooler. It also implicitly frames “rogue” behavior as some kind of inexplicable […]

hugging face is the most terrifying indicator of where the ai race is, in the sense that the industry is facing completely solvable collective action problems while guided by entrenched, unoustable leaders with the foresight and moral fortitude of above-average pigeons

That's the thing about statistics, which includes AI/ML. See the average Outlook user never receives email from New York judges, so statistically speaking Pika here shouldn't either - the catch, though, is that she's a NYC lawyer.
I had to whitelist the nycourts.gov domain because it was sending emails from JUDGES to spam

I appreciate that Dolly Parton refused to participate in "dress respectability" and, by her own account, modeled her aesthetic after a town "tramp," who she thought was beautiful. She separated aesthetics from character and understood "classiness" to be about how you treat people, not how you dress.

(ps. If you're a person of the urban persuasion who's been really concerned about right-to-repair because "What about the poor farmers & John Deere?" … Now you know.) (It's ok to want right-to-repair because YOU want it. You don't have to make it about farmers for it to matter!)

In my current @timberborn.bsky.social playthrough I've conquered the badwater and started on the bots. I suppose I could survive on carrots and baked potatoes and hang out at the campfire for a quarter bil?

I'm loathe to share this man, but this one is personal. My masters thesis was on the MMR controversy, so believe me when I say that this path of separation of the MMR will result in nothing but increased sales of too-small coffins, and children with life-altering medical conditions.
Trump: "The MMR I think should be taken separately. This is based on what I feel."
