Esperanto is what linguists call a “constructed language.” It isn’t attached to a region, and it didn’t evolve from another language over time. Instead, someone decided to sit down and design the whole thing from scratch. Listen now 👉 https://bit.ly/4zdTbPW

I live in a rural town and, like, I don't know how to tell you this, but the girls play on the boys team and vice versa all the time because otherwise we don't have enough players for a game and it's literally always fine so stop being weirdos about kids sports and just let trans kids play.

as someone who uses llms, i'm totally fine, even happy, about lobste.rs being an anti-llm space. if you want pro-llm stuff you can look anywhere else on the internet. if we want a moderate sort-of-llm community we can create one. niche communities with hardcore value systems are good.

I guess another way of putting it is: parts of the overall system can be coherent in isolation, while the system as a whole is very decoherent. The obsession with financializing everything for the last 50 years has been a huge part of the problem in this regard.

I at this point am like 90% convinced that reusable/shareable skills packages are a bad thing for LLM users. The 10% is that it can show you what's possible; the 90% is that people want to be incurious and just slap something in the only person who can effectively guide your tasks is you

“That’s so racist even CBS won’t let you say it” actually sums up how far CBS has fallen.

Yeah, the problem with the tweet *wasn’t* that it violated “CBS News standards.”

interesting framework that matches my own experience both of coding in general and agentic coding specifically. i don't know if its predictions are accurate, or if 'decoherence collapse' is inevitable, but as a person who unfortunately has to use software, it does feel like software is decohering

My thoughts on the current state of AI driven software development, why I'm no longer concerned about a runaway intelligence explosion, and what I think is a far worse outcome we could be walking into maevyn.codes/decoherence

This is a very good point about AI development. If you use AI to "upgrade" your product piecemeal, the patterns it follows will not be YOUR patterns, they will not be the collectively understood patterns of the product, and the entire product will decohere. maevyn.codes/decoherence

maevyn.codesThe Decoherence Trap: When AI slop drowns out the signal in an endless sea of noiseOf all the forms of tech debt, decoherence is the worst. It compounds exponentially with a system's rate of change, and AI is now producing it faster than ever, leading us deeper and deeper into the a...

Good luck to Republicans responding to this smart line of attack by just insisting over and over again that the man saying it is gay, or crazy, or both.

my hot take is that x is in fact still important for anyone following international affairs. but given how noticeably and publicly brains get pickled from x-immersion, i think anyone with a medical history of being a dope (for example, crypto-optimism) should practice self care and abstain
