Today (July 7) is publication day for my new book. I’m incredibly proud of This Machine Kills Billionaires. Available now in all formats, I can’t wait for you to read it. If you’re after dark, thoughtful, propulsive, but above all: deeply human science fiction, look no further.

Exactly where 36 STREETS belongs. Seminal work of cyberpunk, and one hell of a ride.

Well this is three shades of awesome. Pop culture behemoth CBR just dropped their top 5 list of 'essential' cyberpunk books. Four are much as you'd expect (Do Androids Dream, Neuromancer, Snow Crash, and Altered Carbon), & one you wouldn't. My debut, 36 Streets. www.cbr.com/must-read-cy...

The debate has flared up again over whether chatbots are conscious. Which brings to mind this section of dialogue in my most recent book, This Machine Kills Billionaires (2026):

I absolutely loved T.R. Napper's latest novel, THE ESCHER MAN. It's a bloody cyberpunk thriller, but it's also quite introspective. The deadliest weapon isn't a crazy flamethrower mod or a high-tech gun: it's memory. Full review: fanfiaddict.com/review-the-e...

Early days, but the response to my latest work has been fantastic. This Machine Kills Billionaires is currently my highest rated book ever. Link in the next tweet.

Rereading The Return of the King, for the first time I looked through the appendices. There's a section that covers the fates of the Fellowship. The most poignant: After Sam's wife, Rose, passes away, Sam (at the age of 102) immediately leaves for Valinor to join Frodo.

I'll be flying across the globe to attend WorldCon LA (27-31 August), and I'm really looking forward to it. Panel schedule below (is it just me or is there a theme here?) If you're there, and see me wandering the halls (or leaning against the bar), definitely say hello. @laworldcon.bsky.social

Obvious cyberpunk jokes aside, authors can absolutely have clauses in their contracts that prevent this. I use suggested anti-AI language from the Australian Society of Authors, but examples for these types of riders are widespread. Use them. Help protect the livelihoods of creatives.

Have just learned, to my great disappointment, that the Spanish audiobook of Burning Chrome is voiced by AI. Reviews, I’m told, are already complaining.

I do have to say, though, being in an unending state of “now” has got me back to reading and exploring new music. I discovered a great modern Cyberpunk author, T.R. Napper. I’m reading his novel, “Ghost of the Neon God.” A cyberpunk Sydney 🧵
