I judge male authors choices when they write women - especially young women. I've never found myself judging how a non-male author writes a male character, and I don't think its a bias - I think theyre just able to write them as people, there's not a vibe shift or a change in language.

And I dont mean clunky or clumsy writing... a lack of skill or nuance is forgivable. It's when the author decides that if a young boy talks quietly its a whisper, but when its a girl someone is suddenly feeling "hot breathe on their neck" What's the goal here bro? I have concerns.

I'm just a simple boy, asking the internet how much creatine I should be taking, and being overwhelmed by the varying - but equally assertive sounding - articles, suggesting wildly different amounts.

Ive stayed up to finish a short story as the submission window closes tonight. Its a choose your own adventure style peice of madness (my choice, not part of the sub-call) My brain is fucking fried. I never wanna see story branches and permutations again.

Bioware man... I've gotten way too invested in these games over the years, from KOTOR all the way through to Veilguard. They weren't all perfect but they were the pinnacle of the 'choose your own adventure' genre. Literally writing a short inspired by Mass Effect now. To summarise: BOOOOOO

Burnham to face Badenoch at PMQs as Labour accused of β€˜climate vandalism’ after Jackdaw gasfield approved – UK politics live

theguardian.comBurnham to face Badenoch at PMQs as Labour accused of β€˜climate vandalism’ after Jackdaw gasfield approved – UK politics liveThe Jackdaw field will start supplying gas to homes and businesses from the end of the month, the government said Here is an explainer by Jill Ambrose about the Jackdaw decision. But environmental groups have condemned the decision. Ami McCarthy, head of politics for Greenpeace UK, said: Approving Jackdaw shows the toxic grip fossil fuel lobbyists still hold over our energy policy. Andy Burnham promised pragmatism [see 8.40am], but there is nothing pragmatic about rubber-stamping a project that won’t lower energy bills, won’t boost energy security and will create just 27 full-time jobs … True pragmatism means severing our reliance on expensive oil and gas that leaves British households broke, supercharges extreme weather, and leaves our energy security at the mercy of petrostates. Is the prime minister living in a parallel universe? One where we haven’t just endured our hottest summer on record, with droughts, wildfires and, in all likelihood, the most heat-related deaths on record? And where the UN hasn’t warned that we’re on the brink of breaching the all-important 1.5 degree warming limit? Shell will be cheering this decision but it won’t knock a penny off our energy bills, which is what’s keeping people up at night, or make a meaningful difference to our gas supply. Jackdaw will provide around just 2% of our gas demand for roughly ten years. It has been oversold and won’t stop the decline in North Sea jobs, as it will be largely unmanned and operated remotely. "Climate campaigners say its bad for the environment" Well, yes but... It would be more accurate to say that climate campaigners are highlighting it Science, facts, the truth etc. Is what's saying it Lets frame it the other way; PM says the planet can take a hit on this one, for approvals sake

I wish he'd stop speaking about me in public.

Trump: "I'm studying his body. I've never studied the body of a man before. It's not my thing. Nothing wrong with it, of course. But it's never been my thing. But I looked at his ass. I said, 'His ass, shit, it's like a pile of muscle.' Then I looked at his legs and I said, 'Man, his feet are big.'"

Any of you lovely people read Engines of Reason? I really enjoyed Elder Races, for the premise and for that split chapter... but I can't help feel it played its hand in the first book, not sure the premise goes again?

I'm one of the Patreon nerds, so I've just listened to this. SGJ is such a compelling dude, I could listen to him talk endlessly.

Genuinely formative for me. So many cool stories in here.

There's a lot more easily-accessible weird fiction available now than there used to be, but this 1,100 page monster from 2011, edited by @annvandermeer.bsky.social and @jeffvandermeer.bsky.social should be on everyone's shelf.

I have signed up to the charter of ethical puppy kicking. Unregulated puppy kicking is a threat to society as a whole; we must come together to agree legislation about how, when and, where we kick puppies.

"Later the president posted an AI-generated video of himself grinning and having fun by chasing and play fighting with the tiger. Its accompanied by the song The Lion Sleeps Tonight by The Tokens" Thoughts & prayers for all the satirists out there. There is nothing they could write to rival reality

I hear hot honey is the latest thing. Im not sure, so I ask for a small pot on the side. Its a confusing meal as the amber liquid twists and turns out of its little ramekin, morphing into sexy shapes and gyrating in my direction. "Are people really into this?" I ask "You bet" it glugs with a wink

The shops love a trend, and you can't help but jump on board. First was the Watermelon Quenchers served in a full watermelon. Then collectible gingerbread men, who staged a revolt and built their own village. What oddity do you find yourself ordering today? #TinyTalesTuesday #WritingPrompt

Y'all might love James Blunt on traitors, but ive still not forgiven him. During the non-problematic era of Twitter I posted a joke to him, with a photo from my house. He cropped my photo, removed the tag, and posted the exact same thing on his account... and then sold the tweet as an NFT πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚

Thanks to everyone who came to our launch today despite the early hour. If you missed it, we are open in the #FantasyCon Dealers’ Room. And apparently it is National Bookstore Day, so you know what to do. πŸ“šπŸ“šπŸ“š

It must be so demoralising to train for a lifetime, perform something amazing, and then have it spoofed by AI - probably adding some giant tits or something to lure people in - and see the plagiarism go viral.

I know that's sorta what's happening with art and writing too, but that's usually the entire community being robbed. It feels more harsh when you literally see a dancer replaced in their own video.

Petition to make 'soo' a word. I think the adverb 'so' needs a different spelling to the conjunction 'so'. What do you mean there are more important things going on in the world right now?
