John Healey's #budget26 £100 energy pay-out is a bit like housing benefit - it subsidises extortionate prices and does nothing to address the underlying problem

Our NHS has been hollowed out over the last few decades. Thank you @premnsikka.bsky.social The UK has 2.4 NHS beds PER 1,000 people Japan: 12.6 Germany: 7.7 Austria: 6.6 France: 5.4 OECD average: 4.2 This is why we have the disgrace of corridor care. It's time to invest and rebuild our NHS

With new police anti-masking powers here, many are confused about the legality of wearing a mask at protests. Our new zine explains the new police powers and explores how we can stand in solidarity with those who cannot afford to go unmasked at protests. Order your copy now shorturl.at/httBh

I love that Watson is displaying a huge price-tag in the photo. Epitomises the man's principals- for sale to the highest bidder.

The Nobel Peace Prize has been a bit of a joke since they awarded it to Henry Kissinger (and Machado last year), but it's good to see Navi Pillay getting this platform to highlight Israel's genocide of the Palestinian people. Notice the Guardian headline neglects to mention Israel… archive.ph/msx7k

Breaking: Andy Burnham announces the end of 45 years of neoliberalism with a radical offering for the British people: 1. New Vending Machine Snacks 🔹Fruit leather 🔹Cut beans 🔹Christmas mints 2. New Activities 🔹Hall Passes 🔹Pineapple Bobbing 🔹A Playful Mirror Room

In the UK, our public service are crumbling while the rich enjoy tax breaks Our taxes are not only regressive (scrap VAT, tax the rich!), but lower than the European average Tax does not fund government spending, but it is necessary to balance the economy

Fair play to whoever at the BBC chose this picture of the abuser formerly known as Prince Andrew to go with this story

I’m so tired of the disabled and other benefits claimants being the low hanging fruit for politicians. Time and again we see them happy to take the last few pound of a starving disabled pensioner before even mentioning a wealth tax

So after 16 years of the Tories and Starmer punishing, impoverishing, hounding and scapegoating benefits claimants to distract from the rich doubling their wealth, Andy Burnham’s Labour Party is promising a crackdown on … benefits claimants

In the UK we suffer from a lower pension, later retirement age and lower life expectancy than most European countries This means the amount of state pension we actually receive is much lower than in other countries

Troovus@troovus.bsky.social

A state pension of £13k should ignite debate about why it is so low, not about its affordability

Jeremy Corbyn at today's Westminster housing demo, on Andy Burnham's promise to end rough sleeping: Good, but councils need funding to provide proper housing for them, not just hostels Also rules making people “intentionally homeless” need to change and those affected need help

Jeremy Corbyn at today's housing demonstration, demanding more council homes, rent control, rent regulation, and an increase in the local housing allowance - which currently 98% of properties nationally are outside of

Today's measures taken against illegal Israeli settlements in the West Bank are welcome. However, they should mark only the start of the process in bringing about real peace and social justice for the Palestinian people. Read more:

This is a pathetic stunt by Robert Jenrick - to offer to resign from a job he doesn't have yet - if he doesn't keep a promise that should be moot by the next election anyway Labour should increase the personal allowance to what it would be if it hadn't been frozen 1/3

Jenrick's stunt aside, the issue is important The effect of the personal allowance freeze imposed by Rachel Reeves in her 2025 budget & by the other Tory chancellors before her (since 2021), is that by 2030, basic rate tax payers will be paying over £1,000 more tax each year 2/3

The lower tax threshold (personal allowance) of £12,570 would be over £16,200 now, if it had been increased in line with inflation 700k more poor households are paying tax as a result & millions more are paying higher tax Freezing tax thresholds is a regressive tax increase 3/3

There should be no Lords But the worst are those who support abolition, but later take a seat Then those who took a seat as a bribe to support a struggling PM Followed by those who were voted out as an MP and rejoined the legislature the undemocratic way www.thenational.scot/news/2651841...

Keir Starmer is complicit in the killing of 38,000 women and girls in Gaza. Now he wants to pretend that preventing violence against women and girls is one of his main priorities?

Andy Burnham said he'd end 40 yrs of neoliberalism, then did little more than return the bus fare cap to the same level the Tories set He U-turned on almost every significant proposal he made, and his cabinet, advisers and funders are the same neoliberal ghouls that Starmer had

Every shift from Andy Burnham's early statements on what he'd do as PM has been in the direction of favouring the rich He said he'd end four decades of neoliberalism, but he's surrounded himself with a neoliberal cabinet, neoliberal advisers, staff and funders He's Starmer 2.0

These informal discussions really show Jeremy Corbyn at his best - articulate, committed, knowledgeable, warm, compassionate, likeable... If people who believe the media's attacks on, and demonisation of him watch this, they will be very confused Link to the full interview in reply:
