The NAACP has always chosen courage — and our nation is irrevocably better for it. It was an honor to speak at the South Carolina NAACP Convention.

Something people should know about the ongoing GOP civil war: the Bannonite Wing dislikes AI the correct amount, as does Tucker Carlson And yes, this is causing all the problems you'd expect

Today has just been another interesting day. Trump continues attacking the Supreme Court, including justices he personally appointed. Steve Bannon and Bernie Sanders somehow ended up at the same “Pro-Human” AI event.

“what if the AI doesn’t want to be shut down so it kills all humans?” well, the funny thing is, llms don’t exist between prompts. there is no there there. the model is sent a request, it “starts up” to receive it, processes it, and then it “shuts down” again. every single time.

Whenever the US Open is in town I realize what people who do not care about sports must feel like all the time. Preempts everything, it's the only topic everyone is talking about, it takes over half the city, and I'm beyond utterly uninterested.

Anyone else excited for @hope.net this week? The last few years were rough, but I'm very looking forward to an insane list of sessions and workshops in a great location! I'll be around if anyone wants to discuss where journalism, OSINT, security and tech all converge!

I literally JUST typed these words into a email to a friend who was kind enough to read a piece I'd written & offer feedback:

Over the past month, New York has welcomed the world. From neighborhood watch parties to the stadium, we’ve celebrated the communities that make our city the global capital of the beautiful game. Today, we close out a historic World Cup, proud of how New Yorkers showed up every step of the way.

Good god. This swift wedding is the antithesis of billionaire bullshit. If I was still practicing sociology I’d be taking notes for an eventual book about the downfall of 2010s pop culture as a force.

You can’t own anything physical anymore, everything is digital, you can’t own anything digital now, storage is too expensive, you cant stream anything because they took it off the service once their parent company got bought out, you can’t get a McFlurry because the machine is broken

After a cancellation airlines always try to book you at 6am and are shocked when I asked for a later time. “Why yes, now that I’ve been sitting here until 11:30pm I want to go to a hotel and have to wake up in 4.5 hours fly for five hours, and then land 7 hours before my hotel lets me checkin.”

Reminds me of pitching a startup in 2013. Every meeting in SF the VCs asked “how long until a million users?” In NYC they asked “how long until you can pay yourself?” NYC just isn’t jumping on the bubble.

Crunchbase: SF startups hit a record of 1,404 seed deals in 2025, while the number of NYC seed deals has dropped over the past three years, to 666 in 2025 (Yuliya Chernova/Wall Street Journal) Main Link | Techmeme Permalink

Yesterday I worked from a library and realized on my way out I could stop and see a Gutenberg Bible for free without even going out of my way. Then I got on my bike and saw Cave of Forgotten Dreams in 3D IMAX four blocks away. There’s maybe five cities in the world where that makes sense as a day

I honestly have never understood why people even like New York City because of this exact reason. It is disgusting and smells terrible if the temperature is reasonable and is physically impenetrable on very hot days. It's such a gross thing to just accept!

Anyone who says "AI writes the majority of our code now" is a fool and moron. Please point me in their direction so I can raise a fund to short sell the *shit* out of them. The last three hours alone have shown me how incompetent even @anthropic.com's best models at the highest reasoning are.

World Baseball Classic is baseballing. US coming back from losing 8-0 against Italy to now only 8-4 with two innings left. It’s a shame I won’t care about MLB again until July.

You're allowed 60 total votes, but you're allowed to distribute either 1, 2, or 3 votes to each candidate. Unless you choose a full party slate, then you're allowed to cross out people in the slate you don't want to vote for. If you go over 60 your entire ballot is now invalid.

The DoD and Trump chose the *worst* two issues to hold Anthropic to account for. Pretty much every ideology except totalitarianism agrees mass domestic surveillance and unregulated automated killing are bad ideas. Libertarians, classical conservatives, anarchists and anyone to the left of Scalia.

Ring tried to make mass surveillance heartwarming with their Super Bowl ad and the backlash from literally everyone had them end a partnership probably a year+ in the making four days later.

Walking around for 20 minutes I saw at least 4 plows in Greenpoint. 2 within 2 minutes of each other. The competence is breathtaking.

Perhaps the most politically important thing about Zohran Mamdani is that it seems like he really, really likes New York and New Yorkers.
