Dang it. I remember putting that cable adapter I need right now into my cable box (1 of 4 that I have) but I think that I may have recycled that box… I will never throw away a cable again I have failed

Worldbuilding / socioeconomics When designing a world for one of my novels I think about who puts the money in and who make sure the money lands in their pocket… Green puts money in White only takes a little Gold takes a LOT Real numbers tell a real stoy

Ok weird head cannon time: Watching alien earth has really convinced me that blade runner and alien are in the same timeline. I mean Kirsh and Roy Batty look like they are a few generations apart at most.

One of the things that I enjoy is driving. Glad I have a setup where I can do it in the safety and comfort of my home… (No bots were harmed…)

We’re quite deep within the Singularity right now, though it’s turned out be the Singularity of Stupid (SoS), which effectively prevents the original concept of the Singularity from happening.

me as a kid: wow I can't wait until we have robots and computers for everything me now: if this toaster makes me download an app I am slipping out into the night to start a new life as a mysterious figure occasionally glimpsed in the fog

It’s one of those mornings when I have three Americanos and I think to myself “self, another one sounds like a good idea…” (I normally have 1 or 2 tops)

I found a mug I made sometime when I was a single digit kid - my mom was a potter then, we had a kiln in the back yard and everything. She'd throw the basic shape, and I'd add the glaze and decorate it up.

There’s something that I just love about a port. Something about the prospect of travel, the far away places feeling so much closer, meeting people from all around the world - it just calls to my soul.

and I guess that’s one of the reasons that I dig the #Traveller TTRPG so much. The idea of living off a ship, just wandering around seeing the sights really calls to me.

I've always leaned to never say whats to come, don't talk about the foundation your building, a small fraction of users may care but most don't. They want to know when they can use the thing, which is when you ship it.

The agent said “oh I see a few things need updating" and flashed the firmware on my modem. The white line is when we got off the chat.

About a year ago, we set out to build a modern Postgres data warehouse at Crunchy Data. Our principles were: - Most data lives in S3 - @duckdb.org has the best query engine - Iceberg will be the dominant table format - No compromise on Postgres features So, we built Crunchy Data Warehouse. 1/n

A big part of being able to execute is growing a team. A lot of people I talk to have trouble recruiting and hiring. The best advice I can give to make this easier is view the tech world as a long game, don't burn bridges, treat people well.
