David Austin’s Shakespeare. I think I’m in love ❤️. I also love the contrast with the lemony yellow Jerusalem sage and the delicate purple of the culinary sage. The perfume is sublime. #rosewednesday #bloomscrolling #davidaustinroses

Luckily the garden fairies around here appreciate an untidy garden. This hydrangea and mullein have been inseparable all season. Their Autumn arrangement is beautiful ✨🧚🏻🧚‍♂️💜🌼✨🌱💛 I hope you all have the day you wish for 🩵✌️

The first spring flush of this rose always takes my breath away. The best flower is always in the same spot each year but always slightly different in the tones. #roses #bloomscrolling #flowers

How much I would love to have a normal night's sleep again, instead of staring at the ceiling and thinking about how russia struck a school today during the day, and an animal shelter at night, where poor dogs and cats had no chance of escaping their cages. How a private house in Kyiv is

Come on all your lefties liberals a disabled wheelchair user who’s so unwell she haven’t travelled more than 30 miles away from home in 13 years raising money for her local food bank. Shares please. Thank you. That’s if this site isn’t having a crash 🤣.

Here’s the final selection of my photos for my 2027 Dartmoor calendar, I chose the December picture, frosty Tavistock not on Dartmoor, but I do live here ..£16 each inc postage available from me direct via PayPal or bank transfer or my Etsy shop. All profits to Tavistock food bank. only 50.

A glorious spring morning and a sulphur-crested cockatoo glided over my head as I took the compost out. It perched on an elm branch, briefly looked down at me as I looked at it then flew off with a mild squawk to join the rest of the gang. #Firstbirdofmyday #Whatsyours

#FirstBirdOfMyDay could, in context, only have been an intrepid herring gull! An exceedingly brief glimpse of a white feathery object, the size of gull, which disappeared as soon as I became aware of it, possibly from physical contact with the apex of a single storey rear extension.

Last night I sensibly read a few chapters before turning the light out. Tonight I’ve put in about 2.5 hours because I just had to finish it. Now I can 😴

I’ve been standing stock still in this wood for about 10 minutes while I mess about with a photo on my phone. I look up, notice the shape, and slowly crouch down to film This has made me so happy I feel I could cry. It’s as close to magic as I hope to get.

First birds of my day: a pair of Robin, who seem to be regulars to the back garden where I'm staying!, a trio of Carrion Crow carking loudly as they flew overhead, and the gaggle of Gull (2 Yellow-Legged, 5 Lesser Black-Backed, and 6 Herring) circling noisily overhead. #FirstBirdOfMyDay #UKBirding

My first bird was a black-shouldered kite hovering in the field and being buffeted by the icy wind as we walked past this morning. #Firstbirdofmyday #Whatsyours

Black-shouldered kite article on Wikipedia has had a quick visit so far from me to envisage FBOYD. I will be studying the information on the natural history of this species soon. 😄

I've read all my library books and went back to my bookcase - re-reading one of my very favourite books from Robert MacFarlane. #Booksky #BskyBookClub

Dreamy indeed … What a scene :-) Here , well the gull choir decided 03:00 was a more suitable time for a full rendition of “I do like to be beside the seaside” … fair play it stifling in the midday sun and no good for the syrinx !

When I first spotted this butterfly a couple of hours ago, the first thing I had to do was stop my hands shaking. It's one of the rarest butterflies in France, a vanishing species in much of Europe. It's the mountain Apollo (Parnassius Apollo). Just in time for #InsectThursday #lepidoptera
