If you're free on Saturday, come down and heckle the dozen or so nuts that show up for this.

The folks who were going to protest the Bergen St. bike boulevard and bus redesign on Thursday are now doing it on Saturday morning. The white women organizing this have coopted BLM imagery, and they've dropped the fact that they're protesting against "fast buses" from some versions of the flyer.

We get useless flying cars but also millions of people died because you defunded US Aid and also because of the government you support’s policies, normal Americans can’t afford gas

As a practical matter, live-streaming the execution of a paralyzed Muslim seeking martyrdom is a PR win for extremist groups like ISIS, Al Qaeda and the Taliban. They will show the video as a tool to get recruits fired up and angry at the United States… thus generating more recruits for the cause.

A word of caution: while this is an opportunity to show your support for “rails & trails,” we ask that you do so respectfully. Please do not attack anyone who holds a different view. We welcome respectful disagreement, but personal attacks and harassment have no place in this conversation.

Love this! So much easier than Google Earth. Here's the unbuilt Bushwick Expy, I-78 as it would have been signed (continuing across Manhattan on the Lower Manhattan Expy). Note the branch to Hunts Point and the 3rd Queens-Midtown Tunnel tube.

Being opposed to this is letting perfect be the enemy of good. It's easy for people with no authority to cast doubt on battery trains. Consider fighting for ways to properly fund transit agencies so they can install catenary, instead of complaining when underfunded agencies try something.

We're proud to share this story from one of our favorite peers in nonprofit news, @grist.org. New fleets of battery-powered trains will test whether transit agencies can ditch diesel without installing miles of overhead wires: mass.streetsblog.org/2026/10/07/b...

The author makes the argument that the time savings would offset the added walk time. But they don't consider the added time from congestions (trains waiting in the station as riders crowd on) or the extra egress time with a higher density of riders moving through a station.

I sincerely hope that the IBX has a direct impact on affordable housing in these districts and that it can be a proof-of-concept that can advance other projects like QueensLink.

Come to this @citylimitsnews.bsky.social story for the map, stay for a sneaky important point: if the fast track works as hoped, it could cut into the city's residential segregation. buff.ly/44zJqqJ

The excuse for not originally connecting to the uptown platform was blamed on poor signal locations. I'm not totally sure why, but I'd imagine that the block signal system had its blocks located in such a way that it would be hard to locate the train further south.

The uptown platform extension at Bleecker Street station added the distance of two car lengths northward, lengthening the station in the opposite direction of the Broadway–Lafayette Street station, so no connection was made.

Bloomberg had a choice. DeBlasio had a choice. Adams had a choice. They all chose to make it someone else's problem. So here we are. Rebuilding it for only 40yrs service life is also kinda cynical, but it at least leaves the door open for the removal one day. nyc.streetsblog.org/2026/09/23/o...
