I hope you fucking enlighten yourself. I hope you pieces of shit experience the pure joy of perfect clarity. I hope you losers find truth and pursue it like it holds the secret to immortality. I hope your dumb eyes are opened and full of wisdom and purpose.

OK, he’s wrong and racist, but also, what does that have to do with health or human services or joining the Kent GOP?

RFK: "There's five hundred million Arabs in the world. And yet they don't produce science. They don't win the Nobel Prize. They don't win the Fields Prize. They don't win the Wolf Prize. They don't produce literature."

Maybe, but irrational fear drives Republican turnout.

Like, the fact that those are so often, “wow, look at how this flipped at the end!” should tell you that they are useless as predictive tools. The whole idea that people are more honest when they’re betting on something is absurd. Gamblers don’t know shit.

Such an important part of my childhood. Saying all my Vs as Ws for the rest of the day in his honor.

My pal Danielle Koenig shared that her father Walter Koenig passed away last night at age 90. A performer whose kindness and warmth shone through the screen. He will be well remembered.

A lot of people need to slow down and acknowledge to themselves that they're afraid, and this is affecting how they are interacting with other people. You have to acknowledge the reality of your feelings, or you won't control how they shape your behavior.

Lula’s victory terrifies right-wingers because he actually sent the former president who committed many crimes to prison, and they desperately wanted him to suffer for daring to impose consequences on their fascistic behavior.

Storming into the McDonalds at 10:34 AM with a gun demanding they remake my sausage and egg McMuffin with the good round egg instead of this shitty folded yellow bullshit.

Holy shit, Cotton Hill is real.

Bolsonaro-friendly mayors appear to be sabotaging public transport on Election Day. Buses aren’t running in Lula-friendly areas, flights and ferries mysteriously canceled. Traffic lights have gone out and people’s power cut in Salvador, indigenous people’s travel restricted

We are watching a coup d’état attempt unfold in real time in Brazil. I’m consumed by desperation.

I think people intuitively understand that democratic candidates tossing trans kids to the wolves is not only morally repugnant but also politically ineffective, otherwise they wouldn't freak out every time someone said they weren't voting for a democrat who did this

No one has used “fresh” to mean “rude” in over 40 years, but our president has used it twice as the various lights in his head go out and leave him with only the old memories.

Doomers once again vindicated.

The U.S. Department of Justice informed King County Elections Director Julie Wise this week that the administration is sending election monitors for the Nov. 3 midterms. It’s unclear what role federal election monitors will play or how many there will be in King County on Election Day.

This is a wild thing to say when we are living under the most evil administration, court, and congress of my lifetime. Like, it didn’t work, bro. The evil has only increased. Maybe try empowering some good for once.

"Online Rent-a-Sage" Bret Devereaux@bretdevereaux.bsky.social

It is, fundamentally, an exercise of choosing the lesser evil, over and over and over again, so that the total amount of evil in the system decreases over time. And you must keep doing it, because - since evil is easy - good is easily reversed.

We must vote for 2 over 3 to decrease the number over time. Oops, it’s a new election and now my choices are 4 and 5. Well, I know what to do. I’ll vote for 4 to decrease the number. What? Another election? And now my choices are 6 and 8?

We had an economics class in high school where the teacher gave you one point on your final grade for every two cans of soup or four ramen packets you brought her to donate. I bought 320 ramen packets for like $20. That was the most important lesson of that class: everything is for sale.

I also gave 80 of those packets to my best friend to give him a boost, so with the remaining 240 equaling 60 automatic points, I had to make a 40 overall in the class to get a 100 on my final overall grade. I never trusted economics again.

I think our society is fundamentally broken when an 80-year-old knows what a cuck chair is and how to use it as an insult.

Ben Collins@bencollins.bsky.social

The biggest danger to this administration is being a non-white person who is funnier and better at posting than them. That's why they're arresting this woman's family members for running a weed store two weeks before an election. She has the juice and that's dangerous.

I just hope we as a society can reach a level of maturity where we put people like this in specialized enclosures where they can’t bother the rest of us.

Radley Balko@radleybalko.bsky.social

Democrats should really feature these creeps their extensive ties to this administration.
