the last bit especially; most artists struggling financially are more likely to post public emergency comms, fundraisers, etc than cold-messaging clients (new or old) one by one always double check profiles anyway if it feels odd, never pay via F&F, ask for formal invoices, etc

good general internet safety reminder: double check the profile of whoever is messaging you! if the writing style feels off, if there's no DM history when there SHOULD be old messages, or if it feels like an "emergency", there's a good chance it's a scammer ✌
