After a couple of years of delays (having a baby really puts a hold on everything), my personal website is finally live: vladimirp.dev It may need some more tweaks but live is better than perfect, right? ๐Ÿ˜

RCS support will be provided via an optional dependency on sandboxed Google Play for activation. In the longer term, we plan to make a fully standalone implementation requiring the carrier to support it. We probably won't make an alternate implementation of using Google's own system for this.

Looks like, when you watch a YouTube video embedded in Bluesky (mobile app), you still see ads, even though you have YouTube Premium... ๐Ÿ˜ฉ I'll just add it to the mile long list of why desktop browser beats mobile apps...

I should take a break from watching dev-related videos and go watch something more cheery, like one of those Veritasium videos about all the things in our environment slowly poisoning us, to lighten the mood...

I was never closer to deleting my Instagram accounts. The drop that filled the bucket? They asked me for my phone number. After deleting FB in 2017 and WA in 2020, i might finally divorce from META. Microsoft, you're next. #onlineprivacy #onlinedetox #linuxgaming

Weโ€™ve released Next.js versions 16.2.6 and 15.5.18 with important security fixes. These fixes address multiple vulnerabilities across high, moderate, and low severity, including one upstream React issue. We strongly recommend upgrading as soon as possible. โฌ‡๏ธ

Give me some examples of the trashy vs classy meme format, but for tech. For example: Using an old banged up laptop - trashy if you're on Windows, but classy if you're on Linux

I realized the "vibe-something" phrase can be suitable for naming a lot of things... Like if someone who is blind and has never driven a car decided to go driving, it could be called "vibe-driving". Feel free to reply with more examples

So instead of doing what AI suggested (in the screenshot), I just did this in CSS instead: body:has(.modal) { overflow: hidden; } Thanks mainly to the @syntax.fm podcast and their :has() video ๐Ÿ™‚

"you shouldn't chase a fad and should focus on strong fundamentals" meanwhile, recruiters / hiring managers: "sorry, you don't have N years of company experience in X framework, we don't care that you have 10 years of JS experience, we're gonna reject you like you've never seen a computer before"

If I wanted to spin up a blog and start writing quickly, what CMS would you recommend for rich RTF editing able to do stuff like this? I tried Contentful but it's pretty poor (Here are some templates with hardcoded placeholder text)

Me every time I read someone talking about the time they spent looking for a job in months, or the number of applications they sent in triple digits:

Have I mentioned I'm curious and easily interested in things? If you asked me why I'm suddenly interested in learning Go, I'm not sure I could tell you exactly... But I am... ๐Ÿค”

Hey #linuxgamers! Mint or Fedora? I'm looking for a Windows replacement, which includes dev but also gaming. I Liked Ubuntu, but I heard some anti-free and privacy concerns, which kinda defeats the point of Linux. So I'm looking for something else. PC: i7-6700k, GTX1060, Asus z170 Pro Gaming...

Is it just me or is there a bug on the YouTube desktop grid view on the subscriptions page? The videos are enlarged and thumbnails blurry as they are being enlarged beyond their intrinsic size

For some reason I've been reading "Kubernetes" in my head as "Kuber-netties", or "Kuber-NetEase"... but actually it's Kuber-nates? As in Kubern8s?

You are up to date.
