I do think people have the moral imperative to vote for the lesser evil.
The choice is between lesser evil and greater evil, not voting at all means you're fine with greater evil and I will be openly assuming that about you if you tell me you're not voting.
This sort of AI assistant technology will only be destructive unless and until the people developing it can actually grapple with these sorts of questions because they are at the heart of everything. What is worth doing with this one life? www.nytimes.com/2026/10/25/s...
I’m not a political journalist, so was gladly surprised at the community I found here last night. To Americans anxious about the upcoming elections, a key thing we learned in Brazil that might help you: DO NOT engage with the far-right online. Don’t share rage bait. Amplify your people. Ignore them.
My heart is heavy. Walter Koenig, our Ensign Pavel Chekov, passed away early today.
Walter and I met on the bridge of the Enterprise in the 1960s, and we stayed friends for nearly six decades. When Brad and I married in 2008, Walter stood beside us as our best man.
My pal Danielle Koenig shared that her father Walter Koenig passed away last night at age 90. A performer whose kindness and warmth shone through the screen. He will be well remembered.
The Street Fighter movie was so much fun, just exactly what I wanted from a Street Fighter movie. Impeccable casting, great effects, solidly funny. Absolutely worth seeing.
I have never in my life left a bad review for a place on Google or Yelp or whatever, but by god I'm going to be leaving one today because my doctor's office has finally pushed me over the edge and I don't want anyone else to have to deal with their ridiculous bullshit if they don't have to.
That last one was because my previous doctor left the practice and you know what? She had the right idea. Fuck this place, fuck every single goddamn person who works there who keeps acting like I'm an entitled piece of shit for expecting to see the doctor within an hour of my scheduled appointment.
I was so angry after everything today I ended up having a panic attack even as I had to reschedule so I can get enough meds from them to last me until I can find another office.

This is on the heels of having a blood draw last Saturday that they are saying I didn't show up for so they can charge me a $50 missed appointment fee despite the fact that I was there, waited 45 minutes and finally had my blood drawn.
And these are just the most recent fuck ups from this office. Their other greatest hits include: waiting over 90 minutes for a scheduled appointment, having to reschedule a blood draw twice (with over an hour wait both times) because they didn't look at my chart and canceling appointments on me.

Today's wait was an hour and I never even got to see the doctor. I had to go because I had a work meeting I couldn't move and figured my 5 minute consult with the doctor wouldn't take me more than 60min to complete.
Deep beneath the surface, the mining crew found something they were never meant to. The walls pulse. The ground oozes. The air tastes wrong. Is this a tunnel into another dimension—or are you already inside something alive? See more at our site! www.czepeku.com/scifi/maps/f...

The first genuinely honest ad for generative AI I've ever seen, from Microsoft / CoPilot
A mediocre white guy sees his non-white colleague getting praised for good work, he asks AI to *literally copy it*, and then he gets all the praise instead:

“The Democratic congressman from Lafayette has spearheaded efforts to
prevent the administration from selling off public lands, closing scientific
research centers in Boulder, and blocking oversight of immigration
detention facilities.”
As if complaining about things isn't 80% of their MO at this point.
This man and every other member of the GOP are just garbage. They won't call him out for this because it's already what they believe.
Unearthed footage of Vivek Ramaswamy mocking Amy Acton for being a survivor of childhood abuse:
"She has no vision other than to complain about what someone else did to her"
I don't usually do these, but Thunder absolutely doesn't know how to read. He's good at looking like he knows what's going on and can probably recognize a few dozen words by sight. But my bunny is dumb as hell and is lucky he's cute/sweet enough that most people help him out when he needs it.
A reminder that you don’t need to be content machines as creatives
You don’t need to chase all the trends
Making reels and videos helps sure, but if you’re not the type there are other ways to be engaging
You don’t need to make a new post everyday, you can repost some old stuff you’re proud of
So many AI backers want me to be clear eyed about the things AI can do, and I try to be, I know it can do surprising and amazing things. But the thing is: I need them to be clear eyed about it also. There is no system in existence that is without bugs or errors. INCLUDING AI.
If you had a fully greenfield project that you were able to harness perfectly, write perfectly and test perfectly, there will still be unforeseen interactions at play. And we're talking about a legacy product that has been worked on for multiple decades.
