Manx Radio Gold (AM only) sure is going for a *very* retro American sound, always just a bit over the top. But I'm not complaining 😀 In just the last 5 minutes or so, I heard things like "The mighty music power station", "Where the hot hits just keep on coming" and "The greatest hit on earth".

I looked into the company, and it's real. This is literally the service they sell. I'm on the fence between telling them how much of an invasion of privacy this is, or just marking spam. They won't listen anyway. The more I think of it, the more I feel like calling out the business in a video....

I love how people now apparently think it's totally cool to make an AI clone of you without your consent. This is the subject line of an email I got, and they put up an unlisted YouTube video with me, cloned, to me show how great it is.

This whole(some) thread is wonderful!

i am on a plane sitting next to a lady who looks 40ish and has informed me that this is her first time flying she is visibly excited. she asked the flight attendant how much a soda costs and was happy to learn that drinks are free on airplanes. she's taking lots of pictures. i love this for her

Brussels Airlines adds Cairo flights. Starting March 29, summer seasonal for now. Five flights a week, with some pretty brutal timings. And I have to assume this will be flown with a short haul aircraft.

Easyjet doesn't have any regular routes from Brussels to the UK - unfortunately. But it does offer one-off flights to Liverpool (November 25/26), Newcastle (January 21/22) and Glasgow (January 28/29). All originating in the UK, with the return from Brussels 1 day later.

People who are more into sports than I am will probably tell me these flights have something to do with football matches being played on those dates. 😀

AI Slop Design School… (Did I spend hours meticulously recreating a horrible poster just to take the piss out of it? Hell yeah I did)

I feel like I should get up early/earlier on Tuesday to follow the results of the Alberta referendum, but I’m just not sure when. I understand that the polls close and special news coverage begins at 3 a.m. Belgian time, but that seems way too early for any sort of result to be available? 🤔

🚨A massive US Coast Guard #SAR operation is currently underway 13nm south of Nantucket for a Air Ambulance (Gulfstream G100, Tail C-GRJP) carrying 6 people. The aircraft lost radar contact early this morning en route from Bermuda to Boston Logan. #USCG #Nantucket

Obviously, I had to give this a try. So I'm now 'reserved' on a Antwerp to Frankfurt flight on Wednesday October 21st. Only needs 4 more passengers to actually take off :)

Look at that, German on demand airline Vini will offer flights between Antwerp and Frankfurt (Egelsbach) plus Mannheim apparently. But only if there's enough demand for a specific departure date. Let's see how that works out. #AvGeek

First impressions of the booking process: pretty smooth, but while I could set up a time window of when I'd be able to depart, the confirmation only shows a fixed departure time of 6am (right at the start of said window). And no, I'm not assuming this flight will actually go ahead. But who knows.

And where is Egelsbach you might ask? Looks like it's about 16 km from the city center, further south than FRA and with at least some public transport options... if you're willing to do the 1.3 km walk to the nearest S-Bahn station.

It’s getting to that time of year again when transatlantic radio reception becomes possible, even with a small radio and antenna like mine. It certainly takes a bit of patience and a fair amount of luck, but yesterday I managed to pick up VOCM from Canada once again. Distance: just over 4000 km.

Don't know what's going on here, but it can't be a regular occurrence to have 5 private jets land there within an hour of each other. Kirkenes is way up north in Norway, right at the Russian border. All of these started in the US about a week ago with stops in Canada, Greenland, Iceland... #AvGeek

What surprised me about the Fokker 50 flight yesterday is that they ran everything with just 1 flight attendant and no recorded announcement. Which meant she did the full safety briefing 'out of sight' in Swedish and English and then sort of mimed things like safety belt and life vest instructions.

After a day of sightseeing on Åland, tomorrow is #AvGeek day for me. Featuring a 30 minute domestic Finnish flight on a Swedish airline and most of all, a reunion with a 34-year old Fokker 50 formerly known as OO-VLZ when it flew (mostly) between Antwerp and London for VLM.

It's not just the plane itself that makes me look forward to this flight - although it's likely the last chance I'll get to fly the little Fokker. It's also the whole atmosphere of a small airport, free seating and a flight that almost always leaves early - because everyone showed up?
