A Florida man was found dead in his home during a welfare check in July 2022. Weeks later, one of the officers who discovered his body moved into the home and spent years impersonating him, according to investigators.

I feel like "hey, bigots fucking lie a lot and parsing their pronouncements to try and figure out their motivations is fucking pointless" is underrated as a life lesson. Also "their motivations don't matter if you commit to stopping rather than persuading them."

The NHS knows that its new policy is going to harm patients, and it's doing it anyway. It is an active choice being made by this Labour government – don't let them pretend their hands are bound.

theguardian.comNew NHS England policy for trans people could have ‘a number of adverse impacts’, report findsExclusive: rules on same-sex wards could lead to delays in care, discrimination and animosity between groups, finds internal assessment

Off to my mother in laws, where the plan is: anti-fascist march, bonk around town, drink wine and weep about our inability to enact change / protect my wife from the world, dawn countryside walks and probably more weeping, honestly

I agree with this statement but the posts its quoting arent examples of this at all, join me in agreeing without looking at anything further in this thread/the quoted thread

rt if youre a freak, you have hands and feet, and if they saw you they'd faint, they'd be petrified, mummified, turned into stone or a pillar of salt

In 1931, the Irving family, who lived on a farm on the Isle of Man, claimed to have been visited by Gef, the Talking Mongoose. Gef supposedly told them "I am a freak. I have hands and I have feet, and if you saw me you'd faint, you'd be petrified, mummified, turned into stone or a pillar of salt!"

Im mad I cant bring my fucking wife home to spread my goddamn cats ashes, Im mad my friend is too ill to travel and it means we just cannot see her, Im too mad to plan any leave at all

I dont understand how every time my wife has been sick for 3-5 days, and i brag all over about how it couldn't be me bc it reflects her weakness of spirit, 24-48 hours later *I* dont feel well????

I got so excited about maybe a pigeon with stringfoot that I can savior, that I spilled bird seed all in my backpack and then 2 minutes later all in my pocket. I am literally bursting with bird seed and this pigeon didnt even have stringfoot (yay and what an anticlimax)

I agree that “Britain cannot call itself a diverse democracy when communities are living with such fear” but I will note some communities’ fears are taken less seriously than others

The person who sends me giant AI email screeds got so mad that I said "this email is pretty long, let's just have a conversation about this" that he complained to my manager

The construction of the core English and British national identity is a resource which is supplied and denied to people at a matter of convenience to Anglo-British colonial and fascist politics, both internally and externally.

Im worried I am getting crankier and crankier and its making me more and more reactive like a toddler and I am 🤏 this close to giving myself a completely ridiculous haircut, this mullet isnt extreme enough maybe

I was walking down the sidewalk with 3 giant bags, like trying to hold them in front of me to take up the least amount of sidewalk width, and a white man in a suit literally shoulder checked me rather than swerve a small amount to his right

Today I realised my pattern is: have frantic adrenaline from 6-10 am, settle into a rhythm 10am-1pm, eat lunch (tricking my body into thinking we are safe) and then I have to fight physical collapse every day at like 2 or 3pm. Someone who is good at the economy please help me, my family is dying

Genuinely this, like idgaf if the CPI or whatever says wages are better in real terms than in 2008, wages are still not enough compared to current and imminent debts and also *this imbalance is completely, soulcrushingly unending*

Maybe the reason the economic vibes are so off isn't that things are *worse* than the great recession but because back then we all thought the pain was temporary, whereas the things that are wrong with the economy today have all been getting worse for a long time and show no signs of improving

I am thinking about the difficulty of like, "make choices that feel uncomfortable but are more in line with how I want to be rather than in line with how I see myself (i.e.being loving rather than isolating and offputting)" and its just one more kind of fake it until you make it?

New tactic: replying to any rambling AI generated email with "this email is pretty long, let me know when you have time for a conversation instead". Im not reading this shit and spending 10 minutes trying to unpick what you are actually trying to say under copilot's gross cloying word vomit

As they did at last week's protest at Mt. Sinai, protestors administered HRT in public "to humanize gender-affirming healthcare and affirm the right of trans people to make decisions about their own bodies."

We went to the Yarmouth Clam Festival a few years back and the speed clam shucking started all contestants with a bucket of clams while last year's winner started with two, she easily got through those and needed two more buckets, it was wild how big her winning margin was

Once I worked in an old building with a spooky history and some kind of Alastair Crowley thelemic group tried to hire the building for "initiations". We declined.
