something i think about often is the concept of "soft public domain". things that are technically copyrighted but also are they really. things that make you question if anyone on earth would stop if you if you included a character from it in your own published fiction or whatever

what would happen if you put morshu in a new video game. who owns the rights to morshu. and if someone still owns the rights to morshu, would they even want to get in your way. would they want to claim ownership of the zelda cdi games. things like this haunt me

my tragic backstory is that i wanted to play saxophone in middle school but my older brother was a trumpet player and trumpets and saxophones had some weird rivalry so he pressured me not to. i ended up on clarinet instead.

idk what the appropriate level of bitterness for this is. i think in the grand scheme of things i was never really gonna pursue this in my life, i am and always have been more of a visual artist than a musician, but idk fuck i wish the option was open to me y'know

the extra tragic part of this story is we had a saxophone because that's what my mom played back in school. tried it a couple times but never really learned it. by the time i reached adulthood and realized i wanted to learn saxophone my mom had already sold it

i could've just ignored my older brother and played saxophone anyway. but what you need to understand: i have the willpower of a wet paper towel. he got me started on trumpet because that's what he played and i was so awful at it that i quickly switched to clarinet
