Meta and SV as a whole will spend the next 2-4 years trying to make you forget they took their masks off and revealed their contempt for the public. Don't let them fool you. They are careless people who only value things that make them money, and they'll happily prostrate themselves to power.
Joel Kaplan is out at Meta, in another signal that Silicon Valley is getting ready to court the Democrats, HARD. Don’t believe their crocodile tears. No rehabilitation for the engineers of technofascism.
I for one can't wait for the unofficial cross-marketing deal between the communist developers radical new rpg and the Australian take-away chicken franchise.
Gold Class was such a criminally underrated band. It's You is still an incredible album 11 years later. Would love to know why we never got a third album out of them. goldclass.bandcamp.com/album/its-you
Except that it took the medication I was searching for, grabbed another MPP for an entirely different medication, and claimed it had a source for this link which... didn't contain the MPP code at all. Every part of its response was an egregious hallucination, 100% incorrect, but formatted to look...
There are a few different reasons you'd restructure a business this way but if you decided you wanted to exit the games industry and spin off an acquisition you obviously paid too much for 3 years ago this is the textbook PE 'bundling' play.

5 years of @lowtheband.bsky.social's HEY WHAT! These ten pieces—each built around their own instantaneous, undeniable hook—are turbocharged by the vivid textures that surround them. The ineffable, familiar harmonies of Alan Sparhawk and Mimi Parker break through the chaos like a life raft.
Hey @michaelwestbiz.bsky.social, not to detract from the seriousness of this report but is there a reason that everything Claudia Weisenberger 'writes' is clearly written by Claude AI? Claudia = Claude is a bit on the nose; has anyone verified she's even real?
"Within ten weeks, five European countries had moved against Palantir contracts." Yet in Australia they have allowed mass private data transfers - no inquiry, no disclosure. Claudia Weisenberger #auspol #cellebrite #surveillance michaelwest.com.au/the-global-r...

As it is Skynet Day, it seems as good a time as any to share that data center based LLM Ai is caught in a death spiral which is going largely unreported in the media. In short, major insurers are creating carve outs for Ai, refusing to insure it, causing corporations to abandon its front facing use.
FYI fellow Aussies -- @readingsbooks.bsky.social is still the only place you can pre-order this online. Amazon AU still doesn't have a listing for it 🤔 and none of the retail chains have bothered to stock it either.
Remember when y'all made this thread on Paulina Borsook go viral? Well, that resulted in her getting a deal to re-publish her book in the USA, the UK & Commonwealth, Belgium, France, and Switzerland! Coming Sept. 15—with a foreword by some guy named Gil Duran. Pre-order! www.cyberselfish.com
- Built new product category worth $20B annually. - Release PervertPods which are indistinguishable from the original products. - Assume that users of the original products will be fine being associated with PervertPods. Apple & RayBans are running uncontrolled experiments in brand destruction.
I don't see how Apple can claim to be a pro privacy company and also ship this product, which is somehow 10x worse then the pervert glasses.
This week is reading @ghoulpus.bsky.social stories and letting them live rent free in my head, gnawing at my brainstem as they gestate in my ventricles. Just insanely good stuff.
Having listened to all three playlists now I regret to discover I am 60% Noel and 40% Rona.
weekend listening: #Swanboy playlists! (Apple Music, and converted to Spotify) There’s a ton of bands here I have of course heard of, but never got around to checking out. “Today is the day I learn about the Weakerthans” has not happened. Until today. Today is that today. swanboy.com/comic/chavez/
Saw the reaction to Terry Godier finally sinking into the consequences of his AI-slop existence and was so grumpy about it I had to write a thing: blog.wells.ac/2026/08/swea...
Re: Emily Wilson's critique I would contend that much like The Return (2024), The Odyssey lacks the presence of gods altogether. They are films characterised by absent Olympians. My reading is that the final act of Nolan's Odyssey makes clear that Athena... is not Athena. apnews.com/article/odys...
Ronny Chieng has become Mean Waiter. Or was Mean Waiter Ronny Chieng the entire time?
In his keynote speech to Harvard graduates this week, @thedailyshow.com host Ronny Chieng said "Fuck AI!" Turns out you can talk about AI in a grad speech and not get booed. Watch our episode on these AI grad speeches: www.youtube.com/watch?v=VE0E...
What the actual hell. It's almost like private employment services think any assistance at all would remove the 'discipline of the market' -- making anything even a tiny bit easier would stop you getting off your arse and getting a job.
One thing I learned a few years ago is that employment services providers are authorised via the 'Employment Fund' to pay for your food and rent if that's a barrier to looking for work. FROM THE LAST BUDGET: 'As at 31 January 2026, there was $684.4 million in unspent Employment Fund Credits'.
Meanwhile Digital Health Festival starts Wednesday and there isn’t a single timeslot I can find where someone isn’t explicitly selling AI into the healthcare sector. #DHF
An auditor for the Ontario, Canada government found that AI agents tasked with turning doctor/patient conversations into structured notes routinely hallucinated false treatments, replaced drug names with entirely different drugs, and missed crucial information
Jack would do well to read some Jo Freeman. "The Tyranny of Structurelessness" is only 56 years old, so it's a bit cutting edge and niche, but if we get a chatbot to explain it to him in small words maybe he'll be able to understand.
Jack Dorsey, CEO of Block who laid of 40% of the company due to AI efficiencies, describes how to judge the success of their AI adoption. He plans to reduce management layers from 5 managers between a worker and the CEO to 2-3 this year. The ideal is eventually 0 and all 6000 people report to him.
I have a theory that what will ultimately kill these chatbots is legal liability. Insurers will see these kinds of lawsuits and a massive unmitigated risk and insist that the C-suite are kept the hell away from them. And the C-suite are of course the primary boosters of AI slop.
basically a video game CEO tried to fire parts of a team bc he would owe them a $250 million bonus. company's legal team was like: don't do this. we will get sued and lose. CEO went and talked to chatgpt to come up with an incredibly dumb, illegal plan which he exactly followed & lost in court
A secret technology corrupted by monstrous figures is slowly eroding the institutions which rule over the world from within, you say? Seems a bit derivative of 1950’s fantasy. What did you say it’s called?
NEW: Two senior MOD whistleblowers with inside knowledge of Palantir's systems have come forward to @thenerve.news to say government ministers are ignorant of the grave national security risks the technology poses. Hugely important by @charlienotold.bsky.social www.thenerve.news/p/palantir-t...
Twirling, twirling ever rightward, into oblivion.
Or maybe, making sure people can afford housing, health care and basic necessities, are able to form community by not having to constantly move and are ensured financial security in one of the richest countries on earth might do it? How’s leaning right going for UK Labour? 🫠🫠🫠
