So much to love in the scrollytelling — the ternary plot, the depth of the data, the findings — but my favourite part is the explanation and the text in general. 📊 Remember, a chart doesn't have to be understood in 3 seconds. It should reward the effort you put into understanding it.

Hi #rstats friends! I'm starting consulting! I've had a great journey in academia working with brilliant people, and while it's bittersweet (and a bit scary!), I'm excited for this next step. I'll still be maintaining {greta} and am hoping to be even more involved with the R community. 1/n

this is really cool

People endogenously allocate more attention to thinking about prices in high inflation environments; which they hate doing because they don’t like complexity. A plausible reason people hate inflation so much Sort of remarkable how far “thinking is costly” can take you

These two papers, taken together, really cause a rethinking of behavioral economies. Rather than having anomalous risk preferences; it looks like people have complexity aversion to "hard" decisions, especially on valuation, which drives behavioral anomalies. Herbert Simon ftw.

This is a good example of this phenomenon (that @aremay.bsky.social helped me find)—British voters supported cutting immigration by ~10 points, but they support most of the largest sources of immigration by 20 points or more. Only small boats and families of students were underwater.

Joey Politano🏳️‍🌈@josephpolitano.bsky.social

voters have horribly inconsistent and self contradictory beliefs on immigration, if you prime them on in any way on separating “good” immigrants with “bad” ones they will overwhelmingly be pro-good and anti-bad in ways that make no sense holistically

It looks as if this place is becoming what Twitter used to be; for now, at least, we can post stuff to a sigificant audience without being overrun by trolls and bots. For starters, here's my complete theory of the election, and probably my last word on the subject
