A real “are we the baddies” moment for the US

I tell everyone I know to read Sarah’s books, especially “Hiding in Plain Sight” & “They Knew”. Well researched, informative and she provides the receipts. And frightening. She has an ability to take many threads and create a stunning tapestry to explain why we’re where we are today.

Grab some coffee and read this. I actually hate how often Sarah has to reshare this. I do appreciate though; for when I read news and people say "I can't believe this!" And I am not surprised at all, I have this reality confirmation.

Sarah Kendzior's *Cosa Nostradamus* reminds me why I've followed her work for so long. Reading her prose evokes memories of experiencing watercolors. Scholarship, grief, indignation, and irreverent humor flow together without losing their individual character. And “Midol Metal”? 😂 Brilliant..

I think @sarahkendzior.bsky.social would say that it's because legacy media organizations are part of an elite network, mostly comprised of nepotism recipients, who have been financially or socially coerced or blackmailed into ignoring or covering up Trump's crimes for nearly half a century.

The only reason I can think of for this news not being absolutely everywhere is that large media orgs don’t want to be seen as putting their thumbs on the scales a week before election day. And that’s cowardly as shit.

Hamilton Nolan: the greatest threat to our democracy today is huge pools of accumulated capital in private hands. People like Bernie Sanders talk about the oligarchy... but people need to understand that breaking up these enormous fortunes is critical to us maintaining a democratic government.

This thread is why I believe we should just begin imagining and building a new system in this country. The old one is broken beyond repair now, anyway. We can keep what worked from the old system and chuck what didn’t work. It’s an opportunity.

That it'll fail because they lack sufficient consolidation and centralized control does not make it trivial that the president of the United States is trying to steal elections and produce an illegitimate sham Congress. It is open rebellion against the Constitution and morally tantamount to treason.

I've quoted Sarah on this one so many times. Incredible how many people can't accept that the corruption exists in both parties. No one is coming to save us; we have to fight for ourselves.
