I wonder how much of this was thought out. Something like, "Hey, Hegseth, say something so insane that when I come out against it, I'll look reasonable (and maybe the voters will see that and boost our mid-term performance)" -- i.e., manufacture a news cycle. Or is it just a chaotic administration?

NEW: Trump has announced that the execution of Fort Hood mass shooter Nidal Hasan will not be livestreamed, then found a way to whine about Obama

lmao -- obviously nothing will take this man down, but this feels like the beatles (by way of lennon...) comparing themselves to jesus. i'd *love* to see this be the final straw for a lot of his remaining supporters, tho i doubt it

This morning in Biddeford, Maine, a 26-year-old man said goodbye to his wife and daughter and left for work. Moments later he was dead, shot in the head by ICE agents, the second man ICE has killed in six days. ICE is killing our neighbors. ICE cannot be reformed. Abolish ICE.

Two officers who defended the Capitol against the Jan 6 rioters just sued to block Trump's $1.8 billion slush fund. Check out their standing argument, it's pretty interesting:

It’s VERY IMPORTANT that corporate media NOT frame this as a judicial settlement. Trump DROPPED the suit this morning. There is no lawsuit, and therefore, no settlement. you can’t settle a suit that doesn’t exist. This is just pure theft.

They're stealing billions of your money to pay off violent right-wing psychos while doing everything in their power to spike gas up to $5 a gallon, make groceries into a luxury and hand the country over to the oligarchs who want to permanently replace you.

BREAKING: It's official. The Trump DOJ just confirmed the creation of a $1.776 billion slush fund that can be used to pay Trump allies who claim they've been wrongfully targeted by the Biden admin's ‘weaponization' — including, reportedly, Jan. 6 insurrectionists.

Trump broke the Commandents, so Vance had to commit the Deadly Sins. Trump compared himself to Jesus, so Vance had to claim that he was better at theology than the pope. This is one sad weird heretical Oedipal thing.

Political blowback requires political will power. As in, adults within the party to say, "That is wrong. We don't speak like that. No one who speaks like that belongs in our party." -- but there aren't such adults within the GOP.

Remember when they won an election by accusing a vulnerable immigrant community of *eating pets*? Like, do you feel like we took the time to really appreciate how deeply horrific & repulsive that is? Did anyone involved even run into any friction, much less blowback? That was like 47 horrors ago.

Huh. So it's unclear who's funding this campaign to pay influencers to attack Kat Abughazaleh. But the guy coordinating also has a company called Advocators AI, which just won an award for work for…Daniel Biss — her opponent. One of the campaigns the company boasts about promotes trips to Israel.

If Democrats fail to pin the ongoing -- and worsening -- crisis in health care on this administration, they do not deserve to win back control. This is such an easy message to win on!

Q: Rural hospitals in Wisconsin are struggling. Closures are creating healthcare deserts. What can be done federally to keep hospitals open? JD VANCE: Unfortunately, this, like so much of what's going on in the country right now, is a problem we inherited from the previous administration

Three-time Trump voter: I'm looking at this awful picture of the Obamas. What an embarrassment to our country. He is not worthy of the presidency. He takes bribes blatantly, and now he's being a racist blatantly. He's pathetic as a president, and I want to apologize for supporting this rotten man.

i'm sorry, but anything short of the complete abolishment of ICE isn't good enough

SCHUMER says Democrats are “united” behind three DHS reforms 1/ End roving patrols; tighten the rules on warrants and require ICE to coordinate with local authorities. 2/ Enforce accountability; a uniform code of conduct. 3/ Require masks off, body cameras on, agents carry ID.

As we get more reports of ICE thugs detaining Americans, it should be noted that Timothy Snyder made it crystal clear from the onset of ICE raids that NO ONE would be safe. People tell ICE: "I'm an American." They illegally detain us anyway. Bc WE already let them erode due process for immigrants.

When a country with the world's strongest military, including nuclear weapons, puts a mentally deranged person in charge, it threatens the safety of the entire planet. The election of Trump was one of the most reckless acts in human history.

new constitutional crisis just dropped (as if we weren't already aware of the constitutional violations. but the memo is proof the administration knows better, which makes them *more* culpable for justice... in some brighter, future day)

and -- for the love of god -- if the democrats don't rally behind a complete abolishment of this evil wing of our precious DHS, then they don't deserve power any more than the GOP deserves power

at the *very* least there should be a strict plan of ramping down field agents and putting them behind desks. call me a bleeding heart liberal, or whatever, but we should have more people helping advance citizenship via applications/screening than people breaking into homes.
