I am b e g g i n g people to mask up at major cons, *especially* ones with 5-digit crowd sizes!! Lightbox this weekend was absolutely ravaged; I’m hearing of SO many attendees and exhibitors who got sick from doing the show this year!! Please stay safe out there! 🙏 🙏

70 percent of the internet was vulnerable yesterday to very bad security flaws inside a coding language. Turns out, *one volunteer* is mostly responsible for maintaining that code & helping push updates. Yesterday Ondřej Surý saved the internet. So I called him up www.theatlantic.com/technology/2...

I would be absolutely thrilled to see the federal government actually help our creative industries after nothing but year after year of layoffs and cuts.

If any artist contact you on discord to ask you for commission, reach out to them on a different platform to verify if it's really them. No reputable artist will beg for your money in your dms.

once again I'm asking folks who start new small presses to put a masthead with an actual list of credentials and experiences. it doesnt have to be your real name, but submitters should be able to find info on your past work in publishing and writing, etc., esp if you have no catalog yet 🤷

⚠ PSA to artists and clients on #VGen about a Discord scam going around!! ⚠ a scammer is scraping profiles (both artists and clients) to make fake discord accounts impersonating them, then reaching out to people they've worked with in the past who have their discord info publicly visible

Here's Sir David Attenborough on why this huge, heart-shaped piece of the UK in Northumberland is so important. A chance like this to save massive space for nature won't come again. £11,000 donated yesterday, £1.37m still to go by the end of the month - the time is now! 💚 #conservation #ukwildlife

these are the kind of shows you (comic creators) should be tabling — way more comic focused, people are more likely to be there to buy comics, low overhead. if you are a comic creator in arizona, you should apply to table this 100%

Hackers found a backdoor into any website that runs Wordpress, Comicpress, Mediawiki, phpBB, etc. Any of those sites should be taken offline until they can be patched.

Hello every non-techie webcomics person who gets scared to even touch their website. PLEASE contact your host and make sure they're ready to patch this.

I know some of you are running comicpress on php 6 or some incredible nonsense. Please, please update.

since this has escaped containment: if you are a regular person who is not in the business of hosting websites you probably don’t need to do anything about this. pour one out for your friends in cybersecurity though, we are having a really bad day

shitposts aside, this one is serious, my loves: if you’re just waking up and you have any service online running PHP 5.4 to latest, you need to take it down RIGHT NOW and don’t put it back online until after it’s patched absolutely catastrophic vulnerability dropped in the middle of the night
