Interesting read about how the cuts made many this administration are trickling down and destroying lives. Also how Hegseth firing people of color is prompting them to not sign up for military service now. Meet the Americans Who Can’t Afford Haircuts or Toilet Paper www.nytimes.com/2026/08/01/o...

nytimes.comOpinion | Meet the Americans Who Can’t Afford Haircuts or Toilet Paper (Gift Article)Millions of Americans struggle in sometimes unimaginable ways, and Trump’s cuts in food stamps and other benefits are now making life even more precarious.

So far this year we've had: the warmest winter on record in the mountain west, a record-shattering heat wave in Europe, once in a thousand year rainfall and flooding texas and forest fire smoke blanketing the mid west and the north east. Feels like something's going on with the climate!

The MAHA movement was lied to. They thought Donald Trump cared about public health. Instead he has rolled back protections for clean air and water and today announced increased protections from liability for RoundUp, a potential cancer causing herbicide.

When I was little, the U.S. military came to our home at gunpoint and took me and my family away. We were imprisoned for years in barbed wire camps simply because we were Japanese American. I have spent my life telling that story, hoping it would never be repeated.

A State Department employee shared with PBS News an image from inside the department. The image includes a piece of paper taped to a mirror with the words, "Colleagues, if you remain: RESIST FASCISM. Remember the oath you vowed to uphold."

I’m so proud of these fellow Mississippians.

@maddow.msnbc.com , thank you for always recognizing citizens all over the country who are protesting Trump’s policies. I’m proud that I’m one of a group of Columbus, Mississippians, who protest regularly in front of Trent Kelly’s office. Mississippi is a purple state. Every Friday from I2-1 pm.

This horrible Trump/GOP not only kicks over 15 million Americans off their health care but also decimates school nutrition and after school programs. This weakens our nation and compromises our future.

Well, we did have a glimpse of this type of behavior way back when he was running the first time. “Grab them by the p——.” Still the same guy.

This measured, dignified & statesmanlike response proves conclusively that he is a role model for our nation's youth & should counter the narrative that he is an impulsive, infantile, psychologically-damaged dimwit. #TacoTuesdayTirade 🌮 🤬

They’re planning on building a detention center for migrants in the middle of the fetid swamps of Florida. If you think this is something new, the first internment camp they sent me and my family to in 1942 was a barbed wire prison called Rohwer. It was located in the swamps of Arkansas.

This. 👏🏼

BREAKING: In a unanimous decision, a federal court of appeals has ruled that Louisiana's law requiring the Ten Commandments to be displayed in all public school classrooms is unconstitutional. We’ll keep saying it: Public schools are not Sunday schools.

Maddow: I also feel like there’s not very much about that that I don’t understand. Like, it’s the same everywhere. This is blond Berlusconi, you know what I mean? This is inarticulate Viktor Orbán, right? These guys are all the same. The authoritarian playbook is the same everywhere
