BREAKING: In a unanimous decision, a federal court of appeals has ruled that Louisiana's law requiring the Ten Commandments to be displayed in all public school classrooms is unconstitutional. We’ll keep saying it: Public schools are not Sunday schools.

would it help if this was posted and highlighted in neon, in the Oval Office, senators could be copied maybe posted around capitol building, I’m Canadian, by now, I and most of the free world are familiar with all the American laws Don and thugs are violating, let project 25 know too

Probably not with tRUmp. But it should be posted in the U.S. Supreme Court's chambers. A majority of the justices don't seem to understand the Constitution at all. Either that, or they are deliberately misinterpreting it.

Absolutely! He seems to be doing it for his puppet master, Putin. #PutinsPuppet Then, again, he is also Netanyahu's puppet, so we are about to see which master he will try to serve and which one he will throw under the bus. There will be fallout, either way.

Really and truly, The 10 Commandments belong in: the Oval Office, congress and the senate. A) they seem to care the most but more importantly, B) they keep disregarding the instructions.

No worries. There won’t be any public schools left after Louisiana diverts all the public school funding to private and religious schools through school vouchers. Louisiana is a patriarchy and a theocracy.

That's a relief. From the article - "the state’s existing voucher program hasn’t resulted in better education outcomes for students enrolled in it." Validating once again that vouchers really are not about "better education" 🧐

Good! Displaying the 10 commandments in classrooms will not make our kids better citizens. But funding education, feeding children, paying parents decent wages to lift them out of poverty, model and tolerant leaders, not corrupt cheating and lying politicians, that kids can look up to will.

Holy crap… have you been reading my mind?? I’ve been shouting the same GDed thing! There’s always some lame-ass “the Bible is forbidden in school,” “the Ten Commandments should be in schools and courtrooms” post on Facebook or Nextdoor (I know…) and I ask exactly that, what they expect it to do.

But what about those poor, unlucky children whose parents aren’t Christian? Got to make sure they know whose country they live in, er, I mean got to save their souls!

I think they truly believe that their version of Christian values *are* national values and should supersede the Constitution, or rewrite it. They cannot untie the two concepts. It is impossible for them to imagine a secular morality, in spite of all evidence to the contrary.

Of the 55 people who met for the Constitutional Convention that resulted in the original Constitution, 93% were Christians. 39 stayed around to sign, but one can reasonably deduce that 39 was far and away christian. But they, far and away, WANTED Church and State to be separate entities.

Because they don’t want faith. They want control. Schools aren’t failing their doctrine—their kids are. So they reach for state power to impose it. It’s not about the 10 commandments. It’s about silencing everything else.

They scream for the Ten Commandments in classrooms— while breaking at least half of them: You shall not murder — Gaza. Police brutality. Endless war. You shall not commit adultery — See: their scandals. You shall not steal — Corporate handouts. Wage theft. You shall not bear false witness —

—Every election lie. Every smear. This isn’t faith. It´s a cover story for greed, cruelty & control. And since we are at it: 1 Timothy 6:10 "For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil. Some people, eager for money, have wandered from the faith and pierced themselves with many griefs."

I just don't get why Christians hang huge posters with lists of what we're not supposed to do. For most of us all those 'shall nots' are pretty obvious no-nos..Why do they need to be reminded?

Or post a list at home...front /back doors, bathroom doors, bedroom doors, kitchen walls, family rooms. If knowing the Ten Commands is so important for your children, then spend however amount time you need to drill it their heads at home.

If they want kids to learn the Ten Commandments, they can do what I did-teach Sunday school! You'd be amazed at how many of these fanatics have never even considered doing that, they're only interested in controlling public education.

As a tax payer I can barely afford to supplement public schools. I certainly don’t want to fund the private schools. Don’t ask me to fund your privileged child’s education. Make pubic schools better. And for goodness sake, Give ALL the kids breakfast & lunch. Oops. Rant. Don’t get me started. 🥳

Catholics and Protestants have different 10 Commandments. I am pretty sure most who want them in public schools want the Protestant version. The Catholic one differentiates wives from property. The Protestant one doesn't.

I am a Christian and a lawyer - understand, the court is not saying they're anti-Christianity - they're upholding the previous rulings of the Supreme Court (stare decisis for those not in Rio Linda)- it's not political - it's legal (or illegal, depending on your perspective)

With so much contempt for the Constitution being shown by the current #TrumpRegime, it's wonderful to see it being upheld (by this court).

How dumb are these scum trying to make a theocracy when their "religion" at this point is nothing more than a cult of racist hatred? Only the fakest "Christians" ever to disgrace this earth believe in this kind of shit. Trump's globalist oligarch owners laugh at these illiterate KKK pawns.

Finally, people following the law and not faux christians. I recommend that those christians display the commandments n their churches, since they seem unfamiliar with them.

Huge victory! Can we keep the religious freedom ball rolling and sue Minneapolis since it recently became the first major U.S. city to allow the “adhan” (Muslim call to prayer) to be broadcast from mosques five times a day. That religious message permeates the city and schools so let’s get on it! ✊🏼

Whose version of the 10 commandments do they want to post? Because every religion that follows the Old Testament has a slightly different version! Picking anyone indicates the state is favoring one religious viewpoint. Very unconstitutional!

Maybe they should focus more on displaying the freaking Constitution!!! The dumbing down of American students is what got us here. If you don’t know you have rights-you don’t know to fight for them!!!

SEPARATION OF CHURCH AND STATE!!! There is no national/federal religion. The government neither establishes a state religion nor interferes with anyone’s freedom to worship (or not) as they choose. Why do they fight that? Why are religious people SO intolerant? 🧌

We don't need this. Kids can watch the 10 commandments movie on TV. They show it every year, since i was a kid. What are these christo Fascists trying to do? It is not about teaching, since most people know about these 10 commandments. It's about power and control of you . #christoFascist

The separation of Church and State is not arbitrary.. consider what our founding fathers had to say.. who by the way were for the most part "Deists"...

What is that around her neck? It’s not a celebration of the idea that a deity was on earth. It is the method that the deity died. She appears to worship the death more than anything that they may have done or said. The death was about her so it has value, the teachings very obviously have none.

The courts, for the most part, are holding. I’m not sure that they’re not all we really have left.. Once the dictator got control over the CIA, FBI, DOJ, Homeland Security, the National Guard,,, after that what are we legally allowed to do???

“Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.”

C'mon now.. wink, wink. We all know that absent state support and forced indoctrination, the all-powerful diety would fail. And the preacher kept right on sayin' that all I had to do was send $10 to the Church of the Sacred Heart of Jesus Christ licated somewhere in Los Angeles, CA and next week...

I don't know why they need it. Even without this, we already have a Congress which is making policy based on biblical prophecies. Tucker Carlson's interview with Ted Cruz wasn't a surprise but a good example of how delusional are the people who have power over our lives.

They would be successful posting the biblical lesson of the Golden Rule, as it's universal throughout religious and secular society, predating Christianity by thousands of years. BUT, the 10 Commandments allow them to hold on to hateful judgements, which is really the point of the exercise for them.

If you want your kid to go to a private catholic school then shell out the cash to send them there. This country was founded and built on a plethora of religions. Trying to force everyone to follow just one is wrong!

Oklahoma, I believe, is worse. From buying Trump....(choke) BIBLES with school money, to making a video with the Superintendent and Trump and requiring that it be shown in all classrooms, to pushing religion in classes. It doesn't end with that nutjob in charge. and.....👇...THIS is the result

Bro. There's multiple levels in between. Do Mississippi next. Oklahoma is right before Texas, final boss level. You can't just wander into these southern states like "Maybe you should educate your children" 😒 I ASSURE YOU, WE FUCKING TRIED. 🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️

I went to Church on Sunday and VBS. ( I liked the snacks, crafts and seeing friends.) If you can’t get that there then putting religion in school won’t help. The Constitution should be taught more in School. How the government works. Music and art. The First Amendment is a good place to start.

this ruling will break greg abbott’s heart though he may just ignore it as every public school has a plaque which reads ‘in God we trust’ in every entrance-if someone brought the sign to a school it had to be displayed so being told his 10 commandments law is garbage won’t deter him

As a pagan, I’m all for the thou shalt not kill idea. I’m thinking another one the “party of family values” seems to have forgotten is thou shall not commit adultery. They also seem to have forgotten the depths of what that ole story describes as adultery. Its more than just putting your 🍆 in a 🐱

I am old enough to remember that our school days started with he recitation of the Lord's Prayer. Still know far to much of it even though I believe it is crap. Yes, I am an atheist. Got there naturally by critical thinking my way through the bullshit. I don't care if you believe in it, you do you.

Those amazing 10 commandments, with devine inspiration such that tho shall not enslave, rape, molest children, etc are not included but 4 of the 10 prioritize slavish obedience to God rather than ethical reasoning or empathy.

Yeah, there's that whole 'enforcement' thing, although I suspect this'll be pushed up to SCOTUS. Of course, if it was someone wanting something from the Quran being put up in schools, the Good Christians would be having a fit.

i feel the same mostly... i would have rather gotten the satanic church and the church of the flying spaghetti monster to create their own ten commandments so we could use the same law to force those to be displayed as well. maybe a missed opportunity is ok too

That is the least of our worries — NAZI MAGAT GOP will not follow Court Orders & SCOTUS is so far up Trvmp’s ass that they cannot save us. #MarchOnDC NOW before Martial Law is declared & if you protest, the trained killers of our MILITARY will shoot you for protesting. #DoItNow or #AllIsLost

I'm all for this. Churches like to hoard land because they don't have to pay property tax. Taxing them properly would force them to sell off what they're not using and we could build more housing.

I saw a genius solution to homelessness. There's 400k churches in the U.S. and 650k KNOWN homeless. Allow unhoused ppl to camp within 500 feet of any church. Church patrons would complain so much that the argument could be made that taxing churches would alleviate that issue. It's a START

This is especially the case since so many churches are in residential areas already. You see a grid of tiny houses, then right next to it a tiny church on a VAST expanse of unused land that can easily be another 20 homes. Make them sell that shit.

The case would have gone from a federal Circuit Judge who hears cases in the 5th Circuit directly to the 5th Circuit Court of Appeals. That Appeals Court is by far the most conservative in the country, it covers Texas and Louisiana.

Why, I think they’d look marvelous just at eye level over the urinals… sorry, gals, I haven’t got a biblical solution for y’all yet… guess I’ll pray on it!
