Also, if I can't tell the difference between caucuses because you all publish vague platitudes, then you're not caucuses -- you're cliques. And don't get me started on the nonsense of letting people hide behind twitter handles and last-name initials.

There is blatant voter suppression happening right now in Brazil: flights cancelled and buses suspended to Northeastern capitals where Lula holds the majority, polling stations changed to thousands of kms away last-minute, voters in London told they need to go to Edinburgh… This is criminal.

Thomas Gray's Elegy shows what some of these books did to a poem: its lines were recited, set to music, accused of plagiarism, misquoted, and chopped into specimens of meter. A 1906 grammar book even treated the poem as a scrapyard of adjectives! ✂️

Since the kids moved out I have two desks, and yes, one has the sewing machine on it. There's a senior scholar in my field, though, who has a whole huge house full of desks, each dedicated to a specific (work) project: "This is where I work on Leibniz." Life goals!

heard Ann Carson saying that she (and every creative person) needs 3 desks—one for the job that pays, one for other things the mind loves, and the third for crafts. I’ve thought about this every time I’ve had to move my sewing around to set a family meal

Looking forward to learning more about U.S. Magistrate Judge Matthew J. Sharbaugh, who approved thd search warrant on Rep Omar’s residence in DC. He must be shocked, shocked that HSI violated the restrictions he placed on executing the warrant www.washingtonpost.com/national-sec...

Ok who knows where there’s any real news on what’s going on with HSI and Rep. Omar (home searched and now phone seized!) and also her family members who got subpoenaed? Strib has nothing at all rn, PP and Sahan have the AP story from earlier today. Does any one know what judge signed the warrant?
