Timothy Dalton's Bond tenure. There's something Great there and the writers couldn't get a full hold on it.

The writing has been on the wall for a long time and this still sucks and hurts seeing it happen. Mass Effect and BG2 were some of the most played games in my life and I've been loving Dragon Age the last few years. Sucks extra that it's so close to N7 day and that slight hope for something new.

My Amazon "this is what we think about you" listing is pretty boring. Also, Amazon thinks I live in a city I don't actually live in, which I find amusing.

"If you have kids...make sure that your kids know that you love them more than anything in the whole wide world..no matter who they are. No matter what they look like, what they do, or if they wear tattoos. if you don't...when they grow up, they will grow up fucked up." -Doug Pinnick, King's X

Holy shit.

I really grew to appreciate Tim Ream and am going to miss him and his game. Spent 4 years with a bullseye on his back and no one could take his spot from him at 38. Even Pep admired him. See ya in the stands, Captain

USMNT World Cup captain Tim Ream, who turns 39 this week, announces he is retiring from international soccer after 16 years and 86 caps (60 after the age 30).

"They didn't deserve to go to jail over $50, but multiply that fifty bucks by 72, and you've crossed a line!" is not a winning argument!

Kevin@reginageorgebush.bsky.social

I'm screaming at the fact that he's actually running this as an ad

Change it to "grooving" and you've got a King's X show. Probably why it's accurate they call themselves the First Church of Rock and Roll.

Every now and then I see myself referred to as an "AI Denier" and I want to be clear I acknowledge "AI" exists, it's just I think it's a massive energy drain, created from theft, implemented poorly for inappropriate tasks by loathsome tech executives who get hard at the idea of the rest of us dying

I think the kind of AI booster I hate the most are people who are smart enough to consider the social impacts but choose not to because all they can consider is that it's "cool." To quote Ordinary People (h/t Dream Theater): "Can't you see anything except in terms of how it affects you?"

There's a referendum in Washington State that wants to do this to kindergartners! And no one's bringing it up to call them creeps!

I don't think I've ever gone downhill on a politician faster than I am now over AOC on this. Letting herself be absolutely gulled by the "pro dead kids" caucus.

Thomas [DARK MODE], DO 🫐@tom.medsky.social

One of the MAHA leaders that AOC met with is Zen Honeycutt. Here are Zen's demands for winning MAHA votes. 1 and 2 should be considered non -starters for any Democrat.

I did not need push notifications from both the vanilla ESPN and Fantasy ESPN apps about Tua being named the starter. I didn't need either, frankly.

And tonight I got another King's X show, always a moving experience, these guys. And I was a giant nerd and brought their book to get it signed after

Serendipitous to see this, I just finished the second half of last week's episode of The Distraction that I'd saved for one last back/biceps/Deadcast/Distraction workout. This should be fun and sounds like a great pairing. Now to destroy my hearing with Iron Maiden tonight and King's X tomorrow!

There's a bit after the guitar solo where Fred Sonic Smith comes back in, way higher up the fretboard, for some sweet licks before the final barely intelligible verse. Yes, that guitar screams over an outro that a critic might call too long and indulgent but I wish it was longer.

11% + 26% are still mad at Nate Silver's 2016 model (although we all should be disappointed in him since then for becoming a useless and unrigorous pundit). Sometimes you just live in the 30% chance world! Like, 30% of the time!

Welp, this sucks. I guess the idea we're eventually going to get Drew pod and a Roth pod means there's a chance I get one more good podcast out of this, but I sincerely doubt either will become the favorite The Distraction has been since it blessedly rose from the ashes of The Deadcast.

David_j_roth@davidjroth.bsky.social

I tried not to be too mawkish in the blog or the episode, but this is the second-to-last ep of The Distraction and I have had some sentimental feelings about it. Got to see The Odyssey today and the thing I want to gently probably push back on is the idea Odyesseus had PTSD - maybe he is, but the gigantic regret from his service he's suffering from is better described as moral injury. Which is a way more interesting choice than a straight adaptation of him.

As a non-combat veteran of an unjust war, I loved the changes they made in this adaptation. And, given the repeated temptation to use atomic weapons in any war we're losing in history, felt interesting to see "what if you did a war crime to win the war" as a theme. It's kinda funny the right is so
