Happy 7th anniversary to Disco Elysium! Released October 15, 2019, it remains one of the strangest, smartest and most unforgettable RPGs ever made. Seven years later: are you still trying to get that tie off the ceiling fan?

Hit me up if you wanna get involved next year!

Finally my collaborators @pryde.bsky.social and Amit Hossain, who have been a JOY to work with. We're each very driven entrepreneurs with unique skillsets and experiences, and somehow we've gelled together on this project with a cohesive vision and drive that is usually unheard of in this industry.

If you're in town next week HMU and stop by some of the events. If you're not in town, then plan to be in town around this time next year, because if this is what we can pull together in just one month, imagine what @nygamesweek.bsky.social will look like with a YEAR of planning.

For something that came together basically in the last month with zero budget, this has been pretty astonishing to see the interest and reception to it - goes to show there is absolutely a NEED for more gaming events and opportunities for people to connect on the East Coast.

A massive shout out to NYC Mayor's Office of Media and Entertainment, New York City Economic Development Corporation, and Empire State Development for their support and recognition - look to see the New York Games Week branding all over the cities digital signs due to their support too.

25 years ago, terrorists killed nearly 3,000 people, including 2,753 New Yorkers. As we remember that terrible day, let us also remember the first responders, office workers and strangers who ran toward danger to help each other.

Question for devs of 'friendslop' games - do you like the term friendslop? Is it a helpful way to categorize and promote your game, or do you feel it has more negative connotations? Are there other genre defining terms you prefer?

If you're going to exhibit your game at an event, keep in mind that how you present YOURSELF is as key to getting people to come interact with your game as much as the rest of your booth.

It's why companies literally hire promo people who are friendly, personable, and high energy - but being the actual CREATOR of the game is better than all of that, as long as you can be at least minimally welcoming.
