🍁 Early autumn at Sekizan Zen-in, Kyoto A quiet temple tucked away next to Shugakuin Imperial Villa. Red lanterns, mossy gravel paths and maples just starting to turn, with green, orange and red in the same frame.

A quiet corner of Kyoto on Yoshida Hill, where historic houses blend into the greenery🍃 The Tanigawa Residence, built in the early 20th century, once housed professors at Kyoto University. Stone-paved paths and views of the iconic Daimonji mountainside offer a glimpse of old Kyoto🍂

What a disgrace to have a traitorous U.S. president who blames democratic Ukraine for his problems while Ukraine is engaged in a life-and-death struggle for its sovereignty against the murderous invasion of Putin’s Russia. And worse, he is strengthening the enemy’s position.

At Shimogamo Shrine today. The shrine was decorated with yellow lanterns, which was a rare sight. It seems the annual Eto Kigan-sai festival was held yesterday, giving thanks for a bountiful harvest and prosperity in business.

Hidden shrines on the outskirts of Kyoto. 🌿 Tucked away among the trees in Kamitakano, these quiet sacred places offer a glimpse of a different side of Kyoto, far from the crowds. A peaceful walk surrounded by ancient trees, stone steps, and the soft light filtering through the forest.

elon will look untouchable right up until he doesn't anymore and western governments should accelerate that day as quickly as possible

so restricting Ukraine's Starlink was Musk's idea, but after Moscow took advantage he became "alarmed about the possibility of adverse consumer reaction in Europe" to the "night of carnage" and denied responsibility I mean, it sounds like typical Elon

Early autumn on the Philosopher's Path, Kyoto 🍃 The leaves are just beginning to turn, with the first hints of orange, but the path is still mostly green. Sunlight through the maples, temple roofs at golden hour, and the river surface reflecting the trees. #autumn #japan #kyoto #scenery

🍂 Persimmons mean autumn in Japan! Supermarkets are full of persimmons (柿, kaki) from Wakayama Prefecture, Japan's top persimmon-producing region. These are tanenashi-gaki, seedless persimmons. You eat them firm and crunchy, like an apple, and they taste sweet.

Early autumn in Kyoto 🌾
The rice is golden and almost ready for harvest. Mist still clings to the mountains, and a great egret takes off over the rooftops. Quiet mornings like this are my favorite season opener.

the reason “AI will create so much abundance we will have a utopian society” rhetoric falls so flat is that the people building it will never, ever share their bounty unless it is taken from them and we all know it

Kyoto in the rain, through the backstreets of downtown ☔
Glistening pavement, umbrellas, shop windows glowing at blue hour. A detour through Nishiki Market, then lost again in the little streets.

A serene morning at the Kamogawa Delta, Kyoto 🌿💧 Where the Kamo and Takano rivers meet, the city slows down — stepping stones, quiet ripples, and mountains standing watch in the early light.

Morning light through the gate at Jōrin-ji — quiet before the hagi bloom fully takes over the path. A short walk north brought me to Shimogamo Shrine, its vermillion torii standing against the deep green of the Tadasu no Mori forest.
