Hey it’s not every day a case that you had a hand in gets reviewed by the Supreme Court and the ruling is in your favor. (Only two days this year. 😶‍🌫️) @pghguild.com forever ✊

Really feeling for my fallen comrades at USA Today Co. and McClatchy this week. These cuts may save those companies money but they continue journalism's death spiral.

As nice as it is to not have to watch Ozuna anymore, Ronny Simon is truly talentless. In all my years of watching this lousy baseball team I’ve rarely seen more of an empty jersey than 2025 Ronny Simon.

We have also activated RHP Chris Devenski from the 60-day Injured List and outrighted him to Triple-A Indianapolis.

World Cup announcers talking about how heartbreaking soccer can be. They wouldn’t last four innings on any random Tuesday at PNC Park.

Every now and then you’re told something that is true but so unbelievably hilarious that it’s just actually hard to believe.

this is an incredibly good read that highlights what exactly the owners' M.O. has been the entire time!! it breaks down a lot of private equity's involvement is in MLB, too, which has been rising steadily in its presence in sports. it was never about competitive balance. this story says why!!

As MLB labor negotiations continue today and tomorrow — and a cap proposal arrives — one issue might decide the sport's fate. MLB franchise values trail the NBA and NFL. Why that's become so important: “To get change, I think you do what you have to do” www.nytimes.com/athletic/731...

Anyone who can search the web should be able to realize that every institution with a faculty union creates better conditions for faculty, and by extension, better conditions for their students. Compare the before union & after union contracts yourselves - it couldn’t be clearer.

If there’s one thing I’ve learned from 26 years in higher ed, it’s that having faculty governance and tenure is basically having a fake union. They are exploitable systems based on squishy policies that favor the admin, rather than legally-binding rules that represent the many & favor the workers.

My two-cents: It feels like the new PG owners are going to hire 40-50 of the people least likely to have issue with whatever bullshit management feels like pulling and then figure it out from there.

My colleague @marucajulia.bsky.social has an update on the pending PG sale, and there may be a gray cloud attached to the silver lining: PG's union says "representatives of the new ownership confirmed that steep staffing cuts to the Post-Gazette are incoming" ... www.wesa.fm/economy-busi...

It's hard for me to think of two more unlikable sports teams than the 2026 US men's hockey and curling teams. Just two groups of 100% losers.

We at the @postguild.bsky.social are raising money for the hundreds of journalists the Post just laid off. This goes to the people who are hurting, not the Post. Or if you'd rather, go subscribe to an independent journalist. Support is hugely appreciated. www.gofundme.com/f/standing-t...

The Washington-Baltimore News Guild strongly condemns the layoffs announced today at The Washington Post. These cuts represent yet another blow to a newsroom that has already been pushed to its limits and a disservice to the readers who rely on The Post for rigorous, independent journalism.

I liked Pittsburgh better when it wasn’t run by a Baby Boy mayor who will sell the municipal naming rights to any corporation looking to dodge taxes.

Some days you read something so bootlickingly hilarious that you actually laugh out loud at the thought of their raw tongues. Today is one of those days.

Fuck scabs. Yesterday, today, and forever, fuck scabs.

It doesn't get talked about much but we offered at least three separate times, most recently in August 2025, that we'd accept the BCI corporate health insurance plan as long as costs were capped at the court-ordered 2017 CBA rates. They never bothered countering our offers, they just said "no".

PG NEWS: On January 20th, the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) filed contempt charges against the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette for defying court orders to restore workers’ health care plan. newsguild.org/labor-board-...

Their corporate plan is self-funded, they set the rates. There's another group that's on the plan under different rates but they wouldn't even consider that here. They'd rather shut the place down and ignore the courts than give <100 people more affordable health insurance. 🤷‍♂️

Shoutout to a yinzer neighbor, whom I’ve never met, stopping in the middle of the street to tell my dog and I, “Big fire over there, lotta black smoke.” “Oh damn, where?” “Over there.”

BCI just announced to the staff the closure of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette as of May. Unbelievable.

This company wasted who knows how much money to pay a lawyer who clerked for Alito to try and vacate our victory and even that didn’t get it done. Shocking that the workers are right again. Shocking!

Post-Gazette, when you can’t even get Alito and this Supreme Court on your side, it’s over. Give us our health insurance back and just hand that CBA back at the same time. 🫳🎤
