At this point I'm just assuming these accounts with like 8 followers are bots or a part of the 7 figure fossil fuel industry Ad buy. EVs exist in their current iteration because of California Air Quality legislation and also a huge tool to fight GHG Emissions, and are immediately effective at both.

Small businesses are the heart of Oregon’s communities. Thank you @sensgb.bsky.social for sharing downtown Corvallis with me to meet some of the people who are doing amazing things. Small business owners keep Oregon thriving, and I will always be a governor who has their back.

Like Mark's book says, still no miracles needed. We have everything we need to address climate change and don't need to be focused on carbon capture or new nuclear and certainly not new fossil fuels at this juncture, just all in an renewables + bess and electrification.

Mark Z. Jacobson@mzjacobson.bsky.social

New data confirm carbon capture & direct air capture are useless opportunity costs At the capture rate (0.59 MTCO2/y) from new CC/DAC in 2026 where the CO2 isn't used for EOR, it will take 81,000y to build enough CC/DAC to capture the current CO2 emis from fossils & land-use change (47,200 MTCO2/y)

Honda and Asian market mentioned, let's check on things... Jesssussssss. Honda Aug Asian production down nearly over 40% (-43.6%) in Asia due to total collapse in China (-71.7%). Global Q3 numbers are not going to be good with Asia imploding due to Honda's inability to engineer competitive stuff.

Such a rubbish website. Many countries globally foolishly removed their subsidies and then brought them back, and U.S. EV adoption is accelerating.

This is RE the CATO Institute's downright bizarre - strangely timed with the midterms - Musk Astro-turf piece. I don't give a flying f*ck what someone did when they're pulling food from millions of children globally, killing billions in renewable and electrification, working to undermine elections

We're reaching the point where grid operators are turning off renewables because of nuclear. We need to stop new nuclear and retire existing as soon as feasibly possible. New nuclear is a no go on cost/time, existing consumes hundreds of millions a year and stunts the benefits of renewables. Old 💩

reneweconomy.com.auInflexible nuclear blamed for big cuts in wind power in UKLack of flexibility of nuclear plants is biggest cause of wind constraints in UK, at a cost of more than $180 million a year.
Mark Z. Jacobson@mzjacobson.bsky.social

The lesson here is that when you have large amounts of WindWaterSolar (mostly wind, solar but also geothermal, and existing hydro) on a grid, you --match demand with supply better than a base load plant and -- provide base-load electricity that can exceed that of the base-load plant.

Instant follow, yes on so many levels, and love the idea of constantly reinforcing to folks how minimal the upkeep is on EVs, and also their struggle with “car guys” not being able to be objective about EVs as we see so often on the U.S. automotive outlets especially.

Pretty wild how far and fast Lexus has fallen due to Toyota's ineptitude. LS cancelled for the sh!t show ES, and an updated RZ barely hitting 300 miles and still needing 30 min to charge in 2027? With that Yaris interior? Insert Morgan freeman good luck.

My big issue with keeping geriatric nuclear capacity around is the cost to maintain and fuel it (~$200-300M *per GW* *per year* est in U.S.), over a 5 decade life cycle you could build 10-20x the renewable and BESS generation as the fueling/maintenance costs alone. Add construction close to 50x.

Zamafir@zamafir.bsky.social

Or, over a 5 decade lifespan of that reactor, 10-20 GW of additional renewable generation added. That's why all the lobbying for nuclear, SMR and hydrogen transport.

Really fascinating to filter things like truly large scale projects (>50MW) and see how quickly the east coast dots disappear. So much work to be done on the east coast on renewables and electrification, 'we have winter' famously not stopping Germany.

"The one-time, 5% tax would apply to the net assets of California residents worth $1 billion or more at the end of 2026. Rather than income or real estate, it would be levied on assets such as publicly traded stocks, bonds, private business interests, intellectual property and art." So awesome.

"A person taxed on $10 billion in assets would owe $500 million." Such a great step in the right direction, but it should be yearly, and is crucial in a country where society is unraveling and unyielding tax cuts for the ultra wealthy continue to break things.

Interesting to note the unions opposing it, doesn't feel that different than the pressure U.S. domestic branded automotive unions put on policies meant to improve America to try to prolong their survival only accelerating their path towards a cliff.

Those subsidies are back now to some degree, and European domestic automakers, like in the U.S. and Japan, are working to try and blunt EV adoption and incentives and the transition to fully electric transport, this isn't unique to the U.S. - varying degrees of obfuscation.

That no one's chiding Canada for reduced EV sales with the reset of Chinese tariffs to ~6% and return of subsidies but including them in market share graph tells you all you need to know. If we want EV adoption to continue to grow in the 2nd biggest EV market on earth, maybe talk about that growth?

Yet we see story, after story, after story neglect to provide context, to tell folks Americans are the second biggest EV buyers of any country on earth aside from China, and are *increasing* EV sales despite domestic efforts - spurred by nefarious lobbying to stop them More folks calling this out 💪🏽

Context again, Germany went through something similar, a big drop in EV marketshare when they killed their subsidies, but I don't recall the same level of piling on we're seeing here, and do recall folks, as I am doing, congratulating Germans when they started increasing sales post subsidy removal.

Guy really hits the same point I keep making, if countries make it harder for globally competitive and affordable battery electric vehicles to be sold in their market, and don't deploy globally competitive levels of charging nationally, and kneecap subsidies, marketshare takes a hit, water 💧, sky 🌤️

One of the reasons I'm not a fan of market share shaming countries when their numbers are improving is because of the potential that's there. A new survey of 1,000 American adults found that the strongest supporters of transgender sports bans are not the people who admire women most: they are the people who hold the most hostile views about women. www.helenwebberley.com/news/transge...

"The concept of the State Chancellery now provides for creating the conditions under the umbrella of a new company to develop the plant "into one of the most competitive and innovative automotive locations in Europe". So, sell it to a Chinese carmaker?

It'll be a good litmus test to see if attitudes in China have changed in a year since NIO cancelled their semi-solid pack due to no demand - no real demand in china for silly range specs due to the equally silly price tags that have accompanied them - granted that was a 50% larger pack before.

CarNewsChina@carnewschina.bsky.social

GWM’s Svolt began mass production of 100 kWh semi-solid batteries. Such a pack is built on the 900V high-voltage system, supporting 6C charging.

It's almost like GM and Ford's unyielding war on better fuel economy and electrification are hurting sales with precious few EV/HEV options during an oil crisis 🥴

>650 GW of solar was deployed 🌎 in '25 ~3 GW of nuclear was deployed 🌍 in '25 The faster we stop new nuclear and shutter existing, the more solar we can deploy!

Jan Rosenow@janrosenow.bsky.social

Solar has overtaken nuclear. A decade ago it supplied 1% of the world's power. In 2025 it met three quarters of global demand growth. Almost nobody saw it coming. I spoke to Jocelyn Timperley at BBC Future about why. www.bbc.co.uk/future/artic...

This. 100% this. So much renewable or EV FUD is framed as 'well Solar doesn't pair well with xxx power source, or EV doesn't do *insert edge case here*' Irrelevant, our species is rapidly shifting to renewable + BESS and EV, that's it, get on board, and adapt.

South Korea is betting big on clean energy with an ambitious plan to cut fossil fuel dependence. The plan would add 100 GW of renewables by 2030, accelerate EV adoption and cut emissions from heavy industry, all while improving energy security.

Life's better with an EV! You can purchase a new EV in the U.S. for -30% lower than the average price Americans pay for a new vehicle ($35k v $50k), or used for below average with a way lower TCO and better option (~<$25k).
