Finding themselves in the same place as Paula White-Cain is a spectacular own goal but to allow yourself to be filmed and therefore in the minds of some, legitimising that insane person is a very short, straight line to being sprung.

Imagine being so naive that neither Trump nor White-Cain would not manipulate that scene for their own benefit. Trump for political benefit (obviously) and White-Cain to trap more low-effort religious libertarians who like a God that doesn't get in the way of being heinous.

Following on from last night's toot about the T4 line line doubling, they're saying it's part of a $6.8bn package that includes electrification from Kiama to Nowra. Can't see it costing that, tbh. Way under. I wonder what it would cost to drop down under the existing lines with Metro-size trains...

Microsoft is offering “buyouts” to 60,000 of its ~125k employees. The stories don’t mention how many packages are available which is odd. I mean, that’s half the reported workforce. Can they really fire half of the company? Seems fishy.

Also, it’s obviously going splendidly. The current version of Windows is an absolute bin fire of vibe coding and Copilot slop, the company is afaik cash-flow negative for the first time in forever and it’s managed to virtually destroy cash cows like Xbox.

Wait! No! Poor people can’t have nice things! It’s the rule! (how nice do these look?)

Had a dream the other night I’d somehow become the leader of a party and gave a speech about ending subsidises for professional sport like the NRL, spending the money on nurses instead. I’m a regular Aaron Sorkin in my subconscious.

My heart warms when I see places like Oxford Street in London pedestrianised. George Street's pedestrianisation in Sydney has absolutely transformed my opinion of what was a pretty dreary, noisy, unfriendly CBD.

Jokes on you, Oxford Street had been pedestrianised for years. It just now we're telling the drivers

There's a bit of a hand wave in the announcement of the duplication of the double line between Hurstville and Sutherland on Sydney's T4 line. That's, uh, gonna take a lot of work given the...er...terrain challenges.

To be clear, I'm all for it, but there's a small matter of a river crossing, some cuttings, a lack of lateral space and various other dramas to consider. I wonder if they're going to add another pair of platforms at Wolli Creek to really make it zing.

Maybe we can rid the world of the scourge of PE firms by taxing their inputs based on the level of debt they transfer to the business. Sure, buy the business with debt, but you clowns will pay, say 33% on the way in. Yes, I know this makes no sense but neither does PE when you see the destruction.

Number one son has procured an iPhone Duo and I’m toying with the idea of using that fact as blackmail because his level of spending (high) vs his level of household contribution (practical: less than zero, financial, zero) is beginning to create a lot of friction.

This is hot on the heels of an iPhone 18 Pro Max purchase. His sour observations on our lack of spending given our mortgage repayments continuing to climb are not helping.

He objected to being asked to contribute to his ocean-depleting tuna consumption by complaining I earn more than he does. He’s 24. He’s a good kid but hellfire he’s also completely tone deaf when it comes to this stuff.

Just had one of those incidents where I knew how to fix something but instead the two people who had no idea how to fix it got in the way for 20 minutes while I waited with the correct tool in my hand that sorted the problem in exactly three seconds.

If the dimwits who put $250k down for the Tesla Roadster Founder edition - or whatever it was called - that money would be with $740k today. If they'd bought Tesla stock, they'd have $4.3m. If they'd bought NVIDIA, it would be $10.3m. If you put in 5% term deposits, you'd have nearly $400k.

It's pretty wild that Tesla stock his risen so much when the company took deposits for a product that did not and still does not exist and produced the colossal flop that is the Cybertruck,

The worst thing about Drew's position is that because it's Tesla, I can't work out if his PR was to juice a few more deposits rather than anything serious. No shade on him specifically, I don't know him and haven't met him, but I always think the worst of Tesla.

Using AI-enabled tools to create a simple repeated document is like doing tech support over the phone with my mother. "No, no...click th-...no, please stop talking over me and just do what I asked you to do." Five times over.

The Narrative on Snowy River 2.0 sure does seem to absolve the people whose idea it was in the first place. Which is less of a problem than the obvious lie of the initial cost estimate.

When this ridiculous administration is over the greatest punishment for these idiots will be to forget them. Of course, we won’t be able to because they’re going to spend their lives gainfully employed by media organisations to scream about everything

Counterpoint: this is complete nonsense and Adam should be ashamed of himself. If he’s that worried, he should advocate huge taxes on the yachts and rocks to ensure the precious productive business capital (🙄) isn’t affected.

Most billionaire wealth isn't in yachts or jewelry — that's just a few percent of it. Most is productive business capital: companies that employ people, build things, and fund research. Tax that wealth and you're taxing the businesses that employ us all. Cato's Adam Michel explains.

Love a social media account purporting to be a tourism account for a country giving information so obviously wrong it had to be AI generated. Oh, and it was. It named a second national airline that isn't actually an airline at all. I knew that but so many wouldn't. Untagged as AI, naturally.

There’s an an induction system replacement for my 130i called velocity stacks and they make the car sound amazing without adding obnoxious volume or expensive mechanical things like ITBs. Lucky we’re going through a cost of living crisis or I would have ordered that thing on sight.
