BREAKING: We're suing Jefferson County, Illinois for putting up a nearly seven-foot-tall monument of the 10 Commandments on the county's courthouse lawn.

Does it resemble the REAL republican 10 commandments? 1. Thou shalt LIE 2. Thou shalt CHEAT 3. Thou shalt STEAL 4. Thou shalt ATTACK 5. Thou shalt ASSAULT 6. Thou shalt TORTURE 7. Thou shalt KILL 8. Thou shalt DESTROY 9. Thou shalt REWARD TRAITORS 10. Thou shalt WORSHIP FALSE IDOLS

Man, that space could go to some really useful laws like how early-late you can mow your lawn or burn your trash or have your dog barking. "We put Don't Kill People on the courthouse steps" thanks bud. We all know that one. Anyway, good luck.

I think trumplicans need to know their religious rules. They don't follow any of them. If you're Christian, you're going to hell if you don't follow the commandments. Can't steal, cheat on your spouse, want things your neighbor has, worship false gods, murder, work on the Sabbath, etc

This is a coup. A constitutional crisis. They are deporting U.S. citizens and ignoring Supreme Court rulings. Arresting judges. Attacking our rights. Slashing Medicaid. Gutting critical health and essential services. Reject Project 2025. We will not be silenced. NO KINGS. MASS PROTEST. June 14th!

You would think republicans would want to erect statues with the Beatitudes since they claim to be Christians. I guess even the so-called savior isn’t strong enough to win out with a message of compassion and respect for others. Not to mention replacing the 10 Commandments with 1 and f love.

Make sure to remind them that Jesus Christ (root word of Christians) is nowhere to be found in the Old Testament. Matter of fact, God had to send his son because Man was out of control and needed salvation!!!

What do they not get??? Separation of church and state, it’s a key principle in the US. Learn about it. And a bit hypocritical too when you look at the current Republican Party. Seems to be filled with lots of folks who flagrantly violate those commandments on a daily basis.

Wrong lawsuit. Sue them that the wrong 10 Commandments was posted and it should change to Exodus 34. Win that case they will never place 10 commandments anywhere in the US. Or fight this case as-is and lose.

What about getting the Satanic Temple to put up a 7-foot-tall slab with Baphomet on it, right next to the 10 Commandments? Or, at least, have the Satanic Temple announce their plans to do so, and start raising money. The 10 Commandment in Oklahoma City came down REAL QUICK after that thing arrived.

The Ten Commandments are addressed to men. Women are not addressed; They are men's property (Exod. 20:17, Deuteronomy 5:21). It is profoundly undemocratic to post the Ten Commandments in public places, because there is no freedom of religion without freedom from religion. #Christiban suck!

Tbh, if we’re a Christian nation, why not use the Beatitudes? After all, in my opinion using the Ten Commandments shows we’re a Jewish nation. Maybe that’s why our elected officials support Israel

Maybe someone should spray paint a Sasquatch over it. Would make just as much sense. Erecting a monument to any religion on government ground goes against the very foundation of this country and its 100% inappropriate at ALL government buildings at ALL levels.

Hell, Trump better hope he never finds himself in court there! If the 10 commandments are the basis for Illinois law he's fucked. I mean, he's like 0 for 10!

My suggestion is to tear down the 10 Commandments and put up the Beatitudes from the book of Matthew. Don’t reference where they’re from. Just let the maga fools start screaming about it being communist drivel. We will tell them at trial what it’s all about

I do value your good intentions, but placing specific religious items on any public grounds is a basic violation of all other citizens rights under the First Amendment of the US Constitution. Many do not believe in your particular religious views. Remember, your rights end where others begin.

It's ridiculous this keeps happening. Haven't courts already determined this is unconstitutional? There should be additional penalties at this point, because they are knowingly flouting the law.

Ironically, this is actually a really good example of actually taking the "Lord's name in vain" It's actually less about literally saying God's name and more about using God as a pawn for impure or nefarious reasons or misrepresenting his message.
