Over last 3 years, US has spent around 2.34 Trillion on defense preparing for, among others, Russia. In same period we spent $187 Billion supporting Ukraine beating Russia. So: just 7.8 percent to defeat one of our biggest enemies, with no US losses Pretty good deal

I don't usually comment on this sort of thing, but the visible power flex of taking what is in a very real sense, the toys in our attic that we don't use anymore and giving them to Ukraine, and having that be a crippling stop to their forces, just underlines us military prowess. Steal at twice.

Your answer is in your statement. We stand to funnel way more taxpayer money to the military industrial complex going to war with Russia than we would preventing one.

Thank you for stating this. I’ve been thinking pretty much the same thing but don’t have your platform. Support for Ukraine clearly is one of the best investments USA could make from NatSec & Defense standpoints.

All good forces have to stand up and take the fight. As a scandinavian citizen I have personally spent more money than most in the World. And I would gladly continue and do it again to support a fight for freedom anywhere in the world. It’s a question of value not what I can gain. Slava ukraini

Supporting Ukraine seemed to be mostly working and helping protect US interests until we got a Russian asset installed in the executive branch to go with those already in the legislative branch.

Agreed, They are fighting our war on their soil with their blood at a ridiculously low cost to us. It's a shame we didn't let them pursue a winning strategy. bsky.app/profile/phil...

Just sent out this piece--about how the US is the greatest battle-winning, war-losing, strategic force in human history, and how it has tried to force that view on Ukraine (with typical results). It builds on the important @nytimes article entitled The Partnership open.substack.com/pub/phillips...

Why has nobody asked “what is the suddenly urgent threat that emerged that requires us owning and military force being used to take over Greenland?” It’s not near the Middle East. It’s not near South America. Not near China. Who is the sudden threat? Because only Russia has the ability from there.”

Oh Adam, those rock rib, real Americans that you were shoulder to shoulder with in the Congress for years I’m glad to know that they’re doing the right thing, they always put country first Your party was always a lie , it takes a lot for you to realize it I’m still convinced you don’t

This is why every nation on this planet who believes in Democracy should be supporting Ukraine, they are sacrificing so much so we can continue to live in freedom. Whether you support the war or not, support the people, they are dying so we can live in peace. That is dedication undeniable.

A few weeks ago I ran into a MAGA whose husband is in the military. She was talking about how great the cuts have been. I said, “Yeah, by withdrawing from Ukraine and our European allies, we should me able to cut way back on military spending!” She didn’t like that logic.

Can you describe this differently? It still makes it sound like we sent pallets of cash. This was billions of dollars in owned weapons and munitions from our stockpile we sent to Ukraine & the new money is being spent IN THE USA (aka American jobs) to make NEW gear for AMERICAN FORCES.

THE MONEY IS SPENT DOMESTICALLY! We aren't handing Ukraine billions in cash. We are employing our defense contractors and we are renewing our armaments. But MAGA sees it as a handout to Ukraine rather than the military industrial complex...

While the EU clearly sees that RUSSIA is the true enemy, a kleptocratic, genocidal, mafia state, meanwhile the pathetic, naïve, and Putin-appeasing Trump administration goes in the opposite direction. We have never had this anti-western and incompetent a national security team in the US. Ever.

I disagree, Adam. Instead of overspending by hundreds of billions of dollars on our military EACH AND EVERY YEAR, we could instead: Start paying down our debt Work on protecting Americans from the predatory stances large investment firms have taken in areas such as our residential real estate

I'm a lefty EU fanboy, i.e., by US standards, a communist spawn of satan, so I don't agree with you, Mr Kinzinger, on pretty much anything. But thank you for all that you do and being true to your principles. Cheers from Romania.

Yeah. Best spent dough ever. And you didn’t actually SPEND all those 187 billions. Old stuff that Ukraine took off your hands so didn’t have to pay to dispose of it. Plus the money went straight into American pockets. Boosting the economy. Etc.

It staggers me that the case in these terms just wasn't made to the American people, along with how the vast majority of that money was "spent" in American Factories providing solid employment for Americans.

The Meg is is so stupid. They don’t realize how important it is that we give the Ukrainians the ability to fight those murderers killing Russians during World War II. We gave Russia many many many many types of weapon weapons. Why did Roosevelt do that? He

But Putin is our FRIEND!! Russia is our new ally!! The fucking repubtards think we spent too much already helping Ukraine! I mean, the Russians aren't attacking us!! That's what I kept hearing in redneckville. The other was.."We don't know what Ukraine did to deserve this attack." Thanks Fox 🖕

Didn't Felon47 say that it was $350B or something like that? Never shows any real proof of anything. Like this waste, fraud and abuse which doesn't exist and they found $8B in fraud when it was only $8M and it was a contract. The problem is people believe 10 sec. Fox soundbites.
