Thank you. This is absolutely true. Christians who are asked to treat others with dignity and respect, who are asked to provide others with goods and services, even if the Christian disagrees with the others’ way of living, is NOT persecution.

In the 1920s, Roman Catholics were persecuted by the KKK in Northern states. Though some prejudice may have persisted, the rise of the KKK had mostly vanished in those areas by the Roosevelt administration.

Black churches still suffer outbreaks of vandalism to outright violence to this day. But now, the people howling persecution the loudest are more likely to be perpetrators than victims. They conflate persecution with being held accountable.

When Christian Nationalist have power, Christians will be persecuted. Every one that does not practice their brand of "Christianity" will be punished. This is the way religious persecution operates throughout history. And it won't just be Christians.

I just went on a rabbit-hole discussion yesterday with a person on bluesky who wants America to be turned into a theocracy. Nothing got through to him. It seems so over the top delusional. Is this what MAGA is?

They twist the word of God to suit their narrative. God didn't create just white people He created all of us. White men seem to think they can take whatever they want whenever they want. Take a good look at native American history. We destroyed their life.

I like to search "Freemason" on here just to find other brothers and keep an eye on the anti-Masons. I saw your conversation with this individual and I don't think you can really reason with folks like that, and it's why we're sort of forbidden too.

You are probably right. Still, I want to have these conversations with folks until it gets to a point where I understand there is no hope of having a civil conversation. I stop when the personal attacks come.

I honestly don't blame you at all. I'd love to have conversations with a lot of these folks to sort of dispel their misconceptions and correct where they are misguided, but some of these folks are just too far down the rabbit hole to rationalize with.

The dude acts super religious, but promotes nothing but hate and violence. He claims that Freemasons hate Catholics and vice versa, but I'm proud to call Catholic members of my lodge "brother," even though I know I don't agree with them on everything esp. politics.

Agreed. I am not opposed to people believing what they choose to believe. I am opposed to the promotion of violence; in particular when it is brandished under the guise of religion.

Thank you. Also can we start taxing churches now? I feel like if you're going to tell me how to live my life and, in many cases, take political stances on important issues and tell your parish who to vote for you should be paying your taxes.

this. we shouldnt lump them all togther. thats unfair./ just like all Christians shouldnt be lumped in with the extra right project 2025 nuts either. we have to learn to read people and see if their pro 2025 or not. dont just assume

I could be down a tiered system. Small mom and pop church that just tells you to love each other and respects the separation of church and state? Sure, tax free, lets do it. Megachurch with hate preachers? Oh here come the taxes.

What's unfair is exempting an organization from taxes just because it's a church. If it wants to file as a non-profit, let it do so, we don't need special status for churches. If you're not claiming you're somehow persecuted as a Christian, than none of this is about you.

You're right. However my experiences with my Southern Baptist family combined with I've encountered from my equally southern Roman Catholic in-laws makes Christians look a lot worse than they realize.

I suggest that, if American Christians don't want to be associated with these things, you all need to start loudly denouncing them. Where are the religious leaders publicly denouncing Mike Johnson and the Trump administration? "Not my church" isn't good enough when people are dying.

Of course, this applies more to the white evangelical churches. Just thought about Senator Warnock after I posted...a great example of a Christian fighting for what is right.

IMHO, a church that pays its pastor more than the average income of that community should be taxed. A church that uses less than 80 % of its annual budget on direct program costs should be taxed. And a church that talks politics should be taxed.

These so-called Christians think it is persecution if they don't get to put their misguided & self-serving worldview on to everyone else's lives. Now is the time when we need the courts & legislative bodies to ensure freedom FROM religion in the public sphere. They can keep their lifestyle private.

Can’t figure out when this Christian victimhood thing started. Christians have never been persecuted in this country. The real problem is this country was always intended to be multicultural/multiracial and the previously dominant groups don’t want to give up the power they think they deserve.

"Christians" aren't. Religion is an excuse not to think for yourself. Easier to "believe" what some smarmy, child molesting "pastor" tells you. No need to even read their bible. It's an excuse for differentiation and hate.

They’re still around. They’re just the quiet ones, unfortunately. It’s the loud, obnoxious ones who call themselves “Christian” we always hear about. If Christ showed up today, he’d be pretty pissed at what folks are doing in His name.

THAAANNK YOU!!! MAGAs are such pussies pretending to be bullied or playing victim when all they’re asked to do is respect people instead of stereotyping them and pretending it makes you smart. Adam and other Republicans like him are prime examples of why blanket labels are always the wrong choice.

Nonetheless, they sure as hell think they are. And due to the current state of our seized constitutional Democratic Republic, I am way more than willing to persecute them myself.

That's true. I argued with my step Mom for sharing the story going around in the late 90s saying, "We can't even say Merry Christmas in America anymore!". I see that was the start of this iteration of Christian nationalism that has taken over the US government and why she hasn't spoken to me since.

Imagine being so weak in ones faith as to assert that any (made up) level of persecution on earth is significant at all when compared to the promise of eternal joy in Heaven. JFC! Grow up, ya snivelìng weenies.. In the end, their whining is the strongest proof yet that they don't really believe.

Christians have killed and punished more people as heretics than any other group of people. Christians are not followers of Jesus, Jesus was a Jew Christianity was created by the Romans as a political control mechanism.

Of course christians are followers of Jesus. But it's hard to deny that a lot of Jesus's followers are really bad at following Jesus's teachings. Or even, for that matter, *identifying* Jesus's teachings. (eg, people saying "empathy" is toxic & unchristian).

They're not even marginalized or minimized. They just have more competition. And people don't want a Christian government, just a government for everyone. Like it's supposed to be.

It’s because of Matthew 5:10-12 about how blessed you are when you’re persecuted for your faith. The reward justifies a melodramatic performance if Jesus is as gullible other men are.

By persecution it seems they mean if we do anything they do not like. If I play D&D in my home with friends that is somehow hurting them. If I say happy holidays that is attacking their faith. If someone transitions or are married to the same gender that is destroying their marriage.

"Of course fascism comes with a seductive guarantee, no consequences for the loyal followers. The job and benefit losses, the crackdowns, the erasure of free thought, are for the others. By the time they realize that the monster they fed is still hungry-and turning it's gaze inward, it's too late.."

What is a Christian? Per fundamentalist “real”christians, Mormons aren’t Christians and Catholics aren’t Christians, per a minister from Texas. It’s not your behavior or values or belief about Jesus, it’s what sect you belong to that makes you a Christian. Look out, folks…they may be coming for you.

Nope they sell humans to other countries to be imprisoned. That's going to go over well with God on Easter. So let me get this straight.. you want forgiveness.. for paying another country to take the people you don't want..

And have never been, not for a split second. People of other faiths or not religious at all, OTOH, have been mercilessly, relentlessly persecuted by hate-filled xtian bigots in the US. How about we tell a wholly true story of US history?

Most Christians are not Christian. The word means little in most countries, especially the United States. The few who follow the basic tenets of Christ are not likely witnessed by many, but their efforts to make a more just world are felt by many; just not enough for us at this moment in time.

Secular sense! I’m thinking of the folks who claim there’s a “war on Christmas” just because some people say “Happy Holidays” to be more inclusive. Like, Christmas is one of the aforementioned holidays, it’s just not the only one!

Well, not entirely true, Adam. You're reaching. Catholics are considered Christians. And there's at least one locked up in El Salvador. Probably many more. You're smarter than this.

Definitely not as much as they should be, given that they are consistently the most immoral, anti-social and hate-filled demographic group in the United States. I guess, technically, I'm arguing for them to be ostracized, not persecuted. Or maybe they could have a come to Jesus moment!

Pray for those who self-identify as Christian & consider it an entitlement to throw stones at others. The world suffers an empathy deficit & uninformed judgement surplus. The concept of entitlement & righteousness has poisoned people. We've lost enlightened self-interest.

Where were all these so called christians when trump was on trial for rape? Oh yeah. They were lining up at voting booths to vote for him.

Correct, only bigots assumes such. No one is persecuting Christians in the US. They need to check their biases and hateful ways and actions. The Lgbtq community are not molesting any child, but the self righteous bigots are.
