The question of our times. Do police serve and protect the citizenry or a corrupt leadership class? Most cops are just doing their jobs, some are invested in “power flexes.” A singular bad experience is more memorable than many low-friction encounters. Some LE Unions endorsed T, seems like a tell.

Beautifully written. I have great respect for you and the other police that day. Again and again I say it can’t get worse surely the law will step in. I’ve been wrong . It’s terrifying the support the republicans have. The lies they spread. I hope you’re correct and soon the people will win .Freedom

14 members of Congress now support impeachment. If yours is not one, or isn’t yelling loud enough for you to know, call the Capitol switchboard (202) 224-3121 and ask why not. Or just go to their Congress website and email them every time you feel angry. It’s therapeutic! (Please repost)

While working at a refugee charity several years ago I helped a Syrian soldier who had escaped from the army. He was suicidal. Why? Because he was forced to fire on civilians. Another question police and US soldiers may want to ask themselves: Can you live with yourself if you follow such orders?

The IDF guy bulldozing bodies in GAZA suicided. The article was all about "poor him." Too much blood on his hands. Couldn't live with his sins. IDF snipers suicide too. Unlike Hitler, Netenyahu doesn't have furnaces to burn tens of 1000s of bodies. Truth will out. Israel is committing genocide.

Usually it would seem, but the father of my son’s best friend was white and got shot by the police. He was struggling with alcoholism and ended up chased by police while drunk driving. When they shot up his car a bullet lodged in his lower spine. Outcome: quadriplegic.

Sadly some of the police force are white supremacists and Nazis. Due to the dumb blue wall of silence, no one outs them. Like the Seattle police who came for the insurrection and now don’t want their names published. Pussies! These are the vermin. Fuck every J6 participant and fuck Trump

Retired cop of 43 years here.Which oath will today's cops uphold: The constitutional oath required before being vested by your community with the awesome power, authority and responsibility that comes with being a cop--or the loyalty oath that until now, only happened in other authoritarian regimes.

"I was a fascist until I realized fascists didn't give a shit about me either," is what this guy is saying. And although "better late than never" is a thing, all I am left with is one question: does it really take being on the business end of repression to make you assholes see the light?

I had difficulty with his letter as well, especially with his usage of “woke” as a pejorative; a universal sign of someone who’s socially broken. Maybe that’s his old thinking; I hope so. Unfortunately, many people need to experience being the victim before waking up, if they ever do.

As the wife of a retired police officer and the step-mom of a former police sergeant, I found Michael Fanone's letter to have a profound truthfulness about it. My husband long ago made the transition to truth (before Trump 1.0); sadly, my son has not. Not sure he'd even read the letter.

And, add to this, the statement from evangelicals, “You’re either with us or against us.” See how that stacks up against the oath to the constitution of the United States. They will put their version of God, Jesus, Bible ahead of any country, constitution or oath to protect people. That’s a problem.

Ok well Adam....Looking from England, across as American Law enforcement. There is a massive cancer that needs removing,Officers need to be trained on the law,and when they do not enforce it correctly, punished. Way way to many racist police officers, and way to many trying to break the law,

trying to get people who have done nothing wrong,to give officers there I.D. I seen thousands of videos on this happening, and 100 of officers doing a great job. This needs too changed, and if Dems get back in officer.Michael needs to be part of the change within the forces.

There’s safety in numbers, and more people are speaking out against this administration. At some point, we’re all going to have to decide where we stand.

Michael Fanone is a courageous hero. If you haven't read his book yet, put it at the top of your to read list. We need courageous voices and to support those voices in all the ways we each can.

What happened to you was wrong. 🇺🇸And we the people stand with you and are sorry that you went through this. But was even worse. trump let them out of jail and he aided and gave comfort to the enemy. Impeach

I'm not one to whom this was written but it brings a tear. Michael Fanone IS what any who call themselves an American Patriot should seek to be. Learning from life and living out lessons learned. He deserves the gratitude of ALL republicans but they're COWARDS serving COWARDS This man is a HERO!

Very well said, this is the type of information and writing that needs to be on mainstream media, NOT the support for a sick narcissistic pathological liar president hell bent on destroying the country and everything it is founded on. SUPPORT THE CONSTITUTION, with out it we have nothing.

This is great and I am 💯 with MF, but so many law enforcement are so far gone that I’m afraid it’s too late. 😞 Chgo PD in particular is unbelievably far gone - embracing conspiracy theories and white supremacy.

To clarify, IMHO, many law enforcement do not support MF and dont see their role as being conflicted. They are utterly loyal to Trump. They see MF as part of a grand conspiracy against him. Their loyalty to Trump and his populism supersedes any loyalty to fellow law enforcement or the law itself.

Officer Fanone, I'm sorry for what happened to you on Jan.6, 2021, and I'm truly grateful to you for speaking out in defense of democracy and the rule of law. You didn't have to, and many of your colleagues refused to do what you are doing to bring the truth to light about Donald Trump. Why is that?

It’s not looking good. Cops & ICE are saying: “I’m just doing my job”-at best; it’s usually more violent & aggressive. Soldiers are following every order he gives. I think Nance stated %25-30 would follow DJT; I’ve seen no stories of anyone resigning & whistleblowing. They can’t afford to quit.

100% they are telling us “let them eat cake “ well we know what happened to that Dictatorship Regime ! We outnumber them and we will not let this continue !! Boycott all companies that put Trump into office !There is no difference between Hitler /Trump concentration camps in Poland and / El Salvador

Wow very thought provoking honest emotional I’m sorry you were attacked and hurt I was totally and still am on the side of law that’s totally being trashed by this administration ! I’m totally aghast at how many officials elected or put in that office by a CONVICTED FELON are following him!

When I was on the job in NYC in the early 80’s, we did community policing before it had a name. Working foot patrols in highly populated areas in Crown Heights,Bed-Stuy, where you got to know the neighborhood and the people very well. I had mothers surrender their sons to me bc they trusted me.

As a veteran and former police officer, I am saddened that many of my fellow officers sand up and support this man who directed an attack on our capitol and the officers defending it. Now I fear that same man is ignoring our Constitution and destroying more than 240 years of democracy.

I remember when the shock of devastating overreactions resulted in cultural and political changes. Today they barely result in a momentary blink. Are we beyond learning and responding in a positive change?

Was Mike’s awareness of what could be happening in this country brought on by listening to woke discussions or was it due to his own experience on J6? We see things differently if we aren’t affected & can’t understand the anger of those who do have a different life experience.

Pardon me for evoking Adolf Hitler's name. Hitler was a megalomaniac. But Joseph Gobbles was his best tool for success, turning the german people against each other. Deputy chief of staff, Stephen Miller, is today's Joseph Gobbles. RESIST RESIST RESIST.

This brought me to tears. In have no idea how we come back from this situation. I am simply grateful for every officer that tried to stop an insurrection and to bring its instigator to justice. I can only pray these same officers will protect g if s from gfs dictatorship on our horizon
