Quick point. We have had 4 baby boomer presidents. 5 if you count Biden, who is right on the edge. We’ve had ZERO Gen X. We went from almost no debt, to almost 40 trillion. That generation has left us with a debt we can never repay. Time to pass the torch

You've been pretty on point...until now. Not a boomer issue, a GOP issue. Clinton, Obama and Biden had to clean up republican messes. Your republican slip is showing...

What a stupid disingenuous post!!! a) What makes you think Gen X isn't in debt! b) as you well know, running up the debt has been a long time republican strategy to kill social programs by bankrupting the govt. Democrats have controlled spending with Clinton even running surpluses.

I get your point Adam, but this isn't a generational thing. It's Congress and their projects and them trying to do whatever to get money in their state and not think about debt overall. Oh and the billionaires. Got to help them. Please don't be devisive with this generational BS.

Gen X should claim Obama. Also: we can repay the debt at any time. A sovereign country with a mint can print as much money as they want whenever they want. It’s just that paying out the debt will likely generate inflation among other probably bad economic effects.

Love what you do these days, but this is utter horseshit. Your ‘former’ party exploded the deficit on a regular basis for the last 50 years. Your party created “trickle-down economics“ that helped the process along. You might want to rethink this whole post.

Quick point: Clinton had a balanced budget AND started to pay down the national debt. You 1) paint everyone in a huge age cohort with the same brush; and 2) with no evidence, claim younger age cohorts would do better. Political party is the important variable.

Not defending boomers but Ronald Reagan tripled the national debt in 8 years. The problem is not a generation, the problem is Republicans. Democrats cut the deficits and Republicans explode them

It was "time" in 2016, more so in 2020 & essential in 2024. We " boomers" have screwed our children & grandchildren... not even leaving them crumbs from our tables. Our parents were known as the "greatest generation"; we shall be known as the as the greediest.

You pullin' a rabbit out of your ass with that statement knowing you will get chewed out. It all started with the three R's and you committed to it from your votes - we remember Adam.

And they largely complain to the rest of us that they are short changed. Their parents were the Greatest Generation, and I’ll just call them baby boomers because any other nickname would be highly offensive.

While it is time to pass the torch, they weren't Baby Boomers when they were President. Also, Bill Clinton reduced the deficit. You can blame a lot of the debt on Reagan, GWB and DJT.

They don't know The Misfits from Metallica so sad. Our "alpha male" president plays Village People everywhere he goes that's a reason for impeachment.

The irony of Boomers castigating other generations for being wasteful by indulging in advacado toast while running the debt up by trillions is why I mock them at every opportunity

Oh for Pete's sake; what's next, a quick point on similar shoe sizes? I guess it takes you more time to reach a salient understanding of the consistent difference btw the two parties than you apparently have.

The debt isn't something we repay, its a measure of the size of our economy. A scorekeeping. The problem is not the amount of points, the problem is the game being rigged for the few. That is built in with many policies we can blame on the boomers. What does the debt finance? That is the key.

TBH Gen X is both small and abused on Socials... being blamed along with "Boomers" for everything wrong in the world. So not surprised we will be skipped over to ancients hanging on to power or Millenials.

I am soooo tired of the boomer bashing. There are a disproportionate number of people who are illiterate about voting and they're not boomers. The boomer bashing is an old trope at this point.

Quick point, Bill Clinton ran a surplus which the Republican George W. spent. After crashing the economy, Obama had to spend to prevent a Depression. Biden had to do the same after Trump. Democrats have to rescue Republican disasters. The conclusion is not to elect Republicans.

Clinton built a $5 trillion surplus that Bush 43 squandered. Obama inherited a $1.4 trillion annual deficit and reduced the annual deficit to $500 billion by 2016. Trump has added $10 trillion to the national debt during his 5 years as president.

The Reagan presidency marked a huge shift towards a me-first society. Somehow, being a self-serving POS became something to admire. The debt is just another symptom of the me first society.. Give me a fat cat tax cut.. & pass the bill to my neighbors and kids. That's trickle down in a nutshell.

Biden added the *most, with an estimated $8.45 trillion to $8.5 trillion in new debt. Obama added approximately $7.7 trillion to $8.3 trillion over two terms. Trump added $7.8 trillion to $8.2 trillion during his first term. His second term debt should be mind blowing....

Sorry You’re wrong Reagan started it with his insipid tax cuts and YOU KNOW THAT W and Trump escalated it Both barely boomers This is a GOP created mess How many of those tax cuts did YOU vote for?

And btw … Clinton, also barely a boomer (born in ‘46) BALANCED THE BUDGET TWICE What an epic fail this post is Own it Your party and YOU helped get us here

Well when Clinton was president most GenX folks weren’t old enough to be president. I’m a young baby boomer. I wasn’t old enough to be president then and he balanced the budget. Obama was a young president. Honestly this is a an oversimplification, though I agree we shouldn’t have 70+yo presidents.

Gen X has a pretty shitty voting record. They are not the generation of the future. Y’all need to hand it over to millennials and just shut the hell up for a while. We’re used to fixing all of your messes and getting no credit for it. And we’re the most in tune with how fucked our situation is.

GTFO 🤣🤣🤣 I love that energy! 1000 times yes! We struggle while they rob us blind for decades. We have Congress members DYING while in office, and they want us to slave into our 70s for peanuts. This is stupid and evil.

Sure - but this is a vast oversimplification. Clinton (a boomer) delivered the only balanced budget in modern history. The problem is Republicans who've pushed through deregulation of the financial industry and tax cuts for themselves and their wealthy pals. Taking in less than we spend = debt.

Maybe the USA has to pay a bit more to the President so that the younger folk who earn very very high salaries can afford to run and still pay their bills, yes? This sounds not popular...but some CEOS have bills that are very high and they could not afford to only take $400,000.00 for 4-8 yrs.

Tax cuts, Adam. Tax cuts had far and away the greatest effect on getting where we are. First time I've noticed you posting something that just ain't so.

It’s GOP admins that have driven recessions. Don’t simplify by blaming Boomers who were civil rights, women’s rights, anti war activists. And the best music ever written.

I want the torch passed. But Clinton left us a balanced budget. And don’t forget that Republicans (omitting age here) Reagan, the Bush family and Trump added bigly to our deficits. Gen X were huge contributors to 1/6. My point? Ditch the generation bashing crap. That said, I hate the gerontocracy.

Is Gen X going to follow the Biden DOJ and once again start enforcing our ANTITRUST laws to break up the monopolies we have in almost every industry thanks to private equity buyouts ( including healthcare - they own 5700 medical practices & 490 hospitals since 2010 ( before they owned 800) ..

The Republican mantra was to ‘ blame ‘ ACA and insurance companies for the higher healthcare yet totally ignore the part that private equity buyouts has played … And also never mentions that benefits & protections that ACA gives those on employer paid plans which they can lose if ACA gutted 🤷‍♀️

The Affordable Care Act (ACA) protects employees with employer-sponsored plans by enforcing essential coverage standards, such as prohibiting pre-existing condition exclusions, covering preventive services without cost-sharing, and extending dependent coverage to age 26.

It also mandates that large employers (50+ full-time employees) offer affordable, minimum-value coverage, with 2026 affordability defined as employee-only premiums not exceeding 9.96% of household income.

Top 1% Wealth Share in the 70s: The top 1% captured approximately 23–24% of total wealth in the mid-1970s. As of late 2025, the top 1% of households in the United States control roughly 31.7% of all U.S. wealth Yet they pay less tax on that wealth today than they did back then when Reagan cut them

Hate to tell you this , Adam but that is a direct result of your own former party cutting taxes for the wealthy & corporations by over 50% since 1981 - that started with Reagan.. 1980 top individual tax 70% - today 37% 1980 top corporate tax 46% - today 21% 🤷‍♀️

Any Gen X who runs should know the history of how we go this much debt … and that (except for Obama who inherited the 2008 recession Bush left him )the party that has driven up the deficit has been the GOP while in office per actual data … www.investopedia.com/us-debt-by-p...

investopedia.comU.S. Debt by President: Dollar and PercentageThe national debt has increased under most U.S. presidents. Here is how much each president's time in office added to the U.S. debt by percentage and dollar amounts.

1980 effective corporate tax rate after tax deductions was 25% 2025 the wealthiest corporations effective tax rates were ZERO to 5% Before 1980 BOTH parties believed that those who benefited the most from opportunity here should contribute the most back to the National debt unlike today.

Feel free to check the historical tax tables and see for yourself .. The 2017 corporate tax cuts gave the wealthiest corporations 14% tax cuts ( from 35% to 21% while INCREASING the tax on small corporations making under 50k by 6% ( From 15% to 21%) … Taxing new businesses more than the wealthiest??

A bit glib, don't you think? Clinton was the first "boomer" president and he left W with a surplus. Certainly W's carelessness left us with a huge deficit from a misbegotten and unnecessary war and a failure to pay attention to the sub-prime abuses.

Obama had to deal with that and brought things back from what can only be described as the brink. Trump made a hash of things, including denying covid, & the deaths and damage done to people and to the people's economy. [Does Trump qualify as a mass murderer? I say yes: your mileage may differ.]

And, oo you really want to claim Biden was a boomer? 1943 was nowhere near "the edge". Even so, what aspect of his covid & covid recovery budgets would you change?

I'm all drawing the best talent to government service, including the presidency. That said, "I'm Young!" is not a reason to vote for someone, and "He's Old!" is not a reason to vote against.

I think that it has a lot to do with desuetude and irresponsibility of Congress over decades, and the public for electing them Remember the Laffer Curve, the Contract with America, the S&L bailout, the 2008 bailout, 9-11 bailout, and the pandemic bailout? Or the drumbeat of Republican=tax cuts?

I'm all in favor of passing the generational torch, but if you seriously think the national debt has anything to do with when the President was born, you are a much less astute political observer than I thought.

Gen X should be next unless we elect someone just old enough and skip to a millennial. I’m just old enough to be a Boomer, I remember Nixon resigning and keep hoping Trump will take that exit, or not and go to prison for his last few years.

You know what? The Boomers gave us anti-war stuff, civil rights stuff, computers... We marched and fought and agitated for good change like women's rights. How did we ever get to the place where we are trying to destroy those things??? I WILL not take responsibility for this shit. Not my cohort!

this really doesn’t make sense…obama is a boomer who was 47 when he was first elected…47 is age wise on the low end of boomers today if you are considering age. clinton…also a boomer… left office with a surplus that republicans…not boomers…destroyed…if you are considering the economy.

Immediately below this message on my feed there is a message about Susan Collins. it's time for the olds to be put out to pasture.

One can thank Reagan and the GOP for the over 50% tax cuts they have given the wealthy & corporations since 1981, Pika …. And when the majority of our debt started to accrue while cutting the funding for higher education that many of us 70-80 year old Boomers had before he cut that federal funding🤷‍♀️

Fuk that... it is time to put out the fire and have all the old rich people who got us here fix it! You can't drop this on the next generation without doing something about it... and Trump & Biden were not Boomers!

you're 1/2 right Biden was born in '42 BUT DjT was born in'46 -definitely a"boomer"! But that doesn't mean dick-all... there are greedy a-holes in every age group. we all need to look in the mirror to see who is to "blame" AND who should fix it.

I am boomer & yeah, my folks were depression era & my mother grew up in England during WWII including being bombed (Liverpool). They always operated from a perspective of want. BUT, i never missed a meal nor wanted for any essential. MY peers & i were the greedy ones… we had all the breaks…

Let's place blame in the right place. The GOP trickle down approach to economics is what brought us here. Add on Trump adding TRILLIONS to the debt. Thanks to Clinton & other Dems they got us out of the GOP money messes. Yes, it's good to have new blood, but let's start facing the facts!

Congress has power of the purse. And THEN remember presidents Reagan, Bush, and Trump each quadrupled the debt with the help of their Republican House and Senate majority. Fuck your post. It’s stupid.

LOL GenX never had the numbers for anyone to care. Population density (and registered voters numbers) went from boomers to millennials and the whole world gleefully bypassed GenX. Nobody cared. What the world needs is someone from genx saying tax the rich or GTFO and taking the hit

Boomers are the most entitled group of people ever. I am one. I watched parents treat this group as some type of heroes just for the timing of their birth. They should step aside but refuse to give up their power. Like Trump.
