Memorial Day is complicated for a lot of veterans. It’s grief, gratitude, pride, anger, and joy all at once. I wrote today about one of the men I served with — Capt. Andreas O’Keeffe — and about why honoring the fallen means more than slogans or sales. open.substack.com/pub/adamkinz...

Day 491 of 1462 - DEAD American Soldiers are Suckers & Losers! On this Memorial Day, let’s remind ourselves what Un American BASTARD, Donald J Trump, said about DEAD AMERICAN SOLDIERS Suckers & Losers! And, 4 Star Marine Corp General John Kelly did NOT lie you Un American BASTARDS in Cult of MAGA

Iran is gloating over weak, poor negotiator Donald Trump giving them $25,000,000,000 simply to return things to where they were before Donald's pointless war. And all because Donald was too stupid to foresee Iran cutting off supplies of oil, which had devastating effects on Donald's poll numbers.

Memorial Day should be celebrated by remembering all those who died for our country and the ones who serve us today. Our country is in shambles right now and we can’t let this continue. We must keep fighting. Release the Epstein files

Today I pause to give honor to those who died fighting to protect and defend freedom and equality for all people no matter if they were civilians or military. To anyone who died fighting against freedom for all I have nothing good to say.

Mmmmm, no, Adam. You stand here as a traditional conservative republican looking to finance our already robust defense spending and cheering for a muscular military but then become sensitive for its obvious consequences. You should have become a democrat a long time ago, you have no standing here.

I honor those fallen who were classmates, uncles, fraternity brothers and childhood friends who died in Nam. I have the documents from the Memorial Foundation explaining the where, when, and how they died. I read the documents to remember them and honor them. They gave all.

Memorial Day is a solemn reminder that the current president - who, like every other member of his family, never served - considers fallen American soldiers to be “suckers” and “losers.”

My uncle served in WWII as a marine in the South Pacific. He was one of the few survivors in his company in Peleliu. The island could have been avoided and many marines from his company would have been alive today. The story of Peleliu was one many people don’t know about.

I agree as a veteran I did not lose any fellow soldiers but as a dependent of a Vietnam veteran I had a friend who lost his Dad in Vietnam when his dad swapped duties with a fellow soldier and the Vietnam Cong mortared the mess tent. My friend lost his dad who I met on several occasions.

Continued from my past post -and said there was no surgery. He told me not to answer the specific questions by reporters but rather offer simply the fact that he received a medical deferment. He finished the conversation with the following comment: ‘You think I’m stupid, I wasn’t going to Vietnam.’”

Weak Trump avoided serving in Vietnam by claiming he had a bone spur in his heel. As Michael Cohen, Trump’s “fixer,” told members of the House Oversight Committee in 2019: “Trump claimed [his medical deferment] was because of a bone spur, but when I asked for medical records, he gave me none

Iraq and Afghanistan veterans (IAVA) have requested silence at 3pm today. For as long as you feel it. If you don’t personally know a fallen service member, maybe consider that at least 13 have died in the illegal war in Iran this year.

Re issues to rethink; for healthcare, look no further than France. Our system is well funded. Partly State money, but mostly by social charges on earnings; everybody pays whilst in work, plus a safety net for those without. It's not all free; doctor appt is @25 euros. Above all it works; I know...!

I think about my Uncle Joe. He was a navigator in WW2. Once he filled in for a sick navigator on another crew. The plane was shot down and he died. Everyone else on board lived & were taken prisoner in Germany. The Captain said he felt guilty, he'd talked Joe into joining them. But ,Joe chose to.

Thoughtful. Beautiful tribute. Here’s one idea: lift the cap on income taxed for Social Security. Leave the benefit schedule as is. It won’t fully solve the problem but could go a considerable distance.

I can't help but wonder... All those things we were told to fight for. Was it really worth it? I mean absolutely no disrespect sincerely I don't. But I can't think of one 'noble' war since WW2 WHAT IF THEY THREW A WAR AND NO ONE SHOWED UP? Let the assholes who start the war fight it.

Thanks for remembering your fallen friend and telling a bit of his story. And I too struggle with the weekend, as "Happy" seems to dishonor Memorial Day without a context of remembrance. The pragmatism of Part 2 is truly "All American" & I long for dialectical discussions, not just point scoring.

Almost 15 years ago, a Navy hospital corpsman from Cornelius, Oregon died in the line of duty in Afghanistan. He was 19 and on his first deployment. He is buried at Willamette National Cemetery in Portland. I am remembering you this Memorial Day, Ryley Gallinger-Long. Thank you for your service.

You asked "What can we do different?" to fix things? Your four areas: Healthcare, National debt, Criminal Justice, Immigration. To fix each area we need to remove corruption and supremacist ideologies. Each one is built to harm people and make someone at the top very rich.

Healthcare should never be for-profit. Do we even need insurance agencies? Why? Just fund the damn healthcare as a right. Immigration is broken on purpose to make it harder. Why? If the system was made easier, resources could be spent on catching the real criminals (not the immigrants).

National Debt is easy. Tax the very rich and the corporations. Watch Mamdani. Too much corruption and crime in the upper echelons of the Epstein class. I have heard too many politicians saying how the poor is lazy and other nonsense. You did not list it, but a broken Congress should be on your list.

End congressional partisan power. No majority rule -completely bipartisan. When each side is working from a place of service to their constituents instead of corruption, white supremacy ignorance, or power politics, we may get a congress working for the citizens. End self monitoring.
