Lining up a female executive to take the fall for cumulative bad decisions made by male executives is unfortunately somewhat common, and likely part of what’s happening here. That said, she also seems to be truly awful on her own.

Sure, and I certainly don’t pity her, but it’s quite a choice for Microsoft to ensure a woman is the face of these massively unpopular cuts. She’ll likely be gone once the bloodbath is over.

while this is true, I'm not sure "taking the fall" is accurate. She's there to "clean" up the mess by executing everyone left and them moving on to bigger and better executions.

Seeing the response to Asha doing all this pretty evil stuff shifting to "she's just a scapegoat" is so odd. These are all bad money people at the top, there's not a couple good ones just dealing with it like it's a sitcom 😅

I think the idea is to make people aware that when she inevitably gets the boot at the end of this standard procedure and leaves, all the people who caused this will still be there. The point of the scapegoat is to allow the company to sacrifice her in order to give its reputation a fresh start.

sure. but part of that poison is she, along with many other execs, all attend the same business meetings and retreats and are in the same signal chats and all they do all day is fantasize about all their favorite pet delusions

It's not a sacrifice if you get millions while doing it. Sure her carreer on a front facing job might be over, but her life would have already been fullfilled at that point ...

One (me, and everyone) must wonder of there is any corporation of any size that isnt removing all bones, tendons, and meat via layoffs and "restructuring" to just be a bag of skin full of wealthy executives.

it feels like games as an industry and hobby is the breeding ground for so much of this power-hungry evil. Is it just because this is where I hang out? is it actually coming from all over or is there something wrong with games?

they're not even trying to hide it anymore! optics couldn't possibly look any worse, but they don't even bother to present any false pretense. they just say "we don't care about workers, deal with it!"
