A friend recently told me, while we played the fantastic Remnant 2 (thanks @gunfiregames.bsky.social ) he’s excited for AI to “allow two people to make a game like this easily.” How do I explain to him that art has no meaning, soul or impact without human authorship?

Like I see something made with AI, and especially if I know it’s AI I feel absolutely nothing from viewing it. A person didn’t make that; it does not speak to me. How do I eloquently explain this to an AI enthusiast?

I asked him if he’d see a play authored by Claude, or buy and read a novel written by it. He said yes, why wouldn’t I? I honestly don’t know where to start.

Just rolled credits on Zero Company. It’s one of my favorite games from the past few years - impeccable Star Wars vibes and excellent tactical combat. Thanks to everyone that made it, I hope your furlough ends soon

I voted for Patrick Roath today! A long time ago, my grandfather helped Stephen Lynch get his start in politics. I’d be ecstatic if my vote helped end his career. He is not the guy for this moment.

I’m late to post this but I have to say it: I voted for Ed Markey today. I would have crawled over burning coals if I had to, anything to prevent Seth Moulton from winning. He threw trans kids under the bus hours after Trumps victory - complete loser behavior. That it all.

Im currently visiting my parents on vacations in Florida, in my cups and sentimental about the past, but I am eternally grateful of my father telling me bullshit tall tales my entire life. It taught me how to have imagination and impart a sense of wonder to my children. ChatGPT could never

They believe everything the man says like it was handed to them in stone on the summit of Mount Sinai, which is a separate problem but at least it’s just dumb stories about saving my mom from alligators

Lovely seeing everyone at #APPD26 the past few days! I’m so incredibly grateful to this fantastic community of pediatric education leaders - as always I’m returning home with wonderful new ideas to bring to our program, excited for what the next year will bring.

These seven prominent scholars think the world is flat, and here you are foolishly saying the debate is illegitimate. By the way I am one of those very smart people.

“At least seven prominent law professors.” As I suggested on Monday, this is just like Justice Gorsuch’s “battle of law reviews.” It’s not about the frickin’ scoreboard: www.stevevladeck.com/p/219-drunks...

My least favorite type of doctor, the one I try to spend my career fighting against, is the kind that gives patients the answers they want instead of the answers they need. Often, for cash.

This man should never know peace. People should find him, wherever he is, and make him miserable. Out at a restaurant, asleep in his comfortable mansion, I do not care. There should be repercussions for being this fucking vile. A 6 year old lost his mother, and this is how he responds.

Jesse Watters highlights that Renee Nicole Good, the woman killed by ICE, had "pronouns in her bio" and "leaves behind a lesbian partner and a child from a previous marriage"

Finally getting around to the annual viewing of Elf with the kids - delighted to discover that Ed Asner was a proud member of the Democratic Socialists of America. That’s my Santa!

UPDATE: Two people were killed and eight others were wounded in the shooting at Brown University in Providence, RI yesterday afternoon. A person is in custody in connection to the shooting.

There are no words that will make what’s happening at Brown University better. My mind is on the victims, and their friends and peers that will live in the aftermath. It’s on my colleagues at the hospital fighting to save every life. We don’t need words, we need action so this never happens again

Even though I live in this country where this happens every day I can’t believe this is happening to our community. Brown students are the most thoughtful and considerate I’ve ever worked with - they deserve happiness and safety and every day this country fails to give them it

Altman is so committed to selling the fake value of AI that he makes himself sound like a cold, miserable robot in this interview. Asking “Hey ChatGPT why is my kid throwing his pizza on the floor and laughing?” is not a cute anecdote, it’s really sad!

More Perfect Union@moreperfectunion.bsky.social

Jimmy Fallon: "And do you use ChatGPT when raising your baby?" Sam Altman: "I cannot imagine figuring out how to raise a newborn without ChatGPT."

Sounds like a great plan Rand, but let’s think bigger! Do we know anyone that can negotiate for 340 million people? Think of the savings!

Aaron Rupar@atrupar.com

Rand Paul on his healthcare plan: "What if you could join Costco? Costco has 44m members and if one person negotiated for all 44 and they bought a group plan like Toyota or General Motors does, they would be the largest collective entity in the country. They would drive prices down by sheer might."

Cody argues that the AAP refusing to participate puts them on the sidelines and reduces their relevancy - the opposite is true: loudly calling out the sham for what it is, a political farce, gives us credibility.

I remain deeply, deeply disappointed in this man I used to have a lot of respect for. Dr. Meissner should consider resigning in protest and let RFK Jr replace him with another non-MD quack

Cody should think about how his presence on the ACIP, even though he voted the right way here, offers legitimacy to an illegitimate committee. This decision is one of many they’ve made that are disqualifying - the CDC has lost all credibility

I am so sick of this guy. Get him out of there, we need new leadership

There is a direct correlation between how fake your job is and how much value you see in AI

Dare Obasanjo@carnage4life.bsky.social

A study by Dayforce shows 87% of executives use AI for work, compared to 57% of managers and just 27% of employees. I think this explains the massive disconnect we see in how CEOs talk about AI versus everyone else. It also raises the question of how useful it truly is for frontline work?

Do you think Tom will listen to the chorus of people both politely and impolitely explaining that fascism isn’t just when it happens to everyone? Tom, do you really want history to remember you as an insufferable pedant? Or someone that stood up against fascism for the vulnerable. Your choice

Tom Nichols@radiofreetom.bsky.social

My mistake has been trying to explain what "fascism" is to people who don't care what it is. So I'm going to try something else. Let's do this as a practical thought exercise. If America *were* fascist *today* - what would you have to do differently in your daily life? /1

The Republican president is a pedophile who has doubled my healthcare costs and let scores of violent criminals out of jail. But a Democratic mayor-elect wants to make busses free in a city I don't live in. I have never felt more politically homeless.
