I had a very strange introduction to this hobby. Didnt really know what was going on until Paranoia, and I didnt vibe with 3.5, which had a lot to do with hostile players at the table and a bad GM who let a lot of BS happen. And then I bought 30 GURPS books over many years at a second hand store.

BioWare joins a long and depressing list of legendary video game studios that have, eventually, died after being acquired by Electronic Arts

Middle-Earth goes nuts as SBG's new episode on The Silmarillion introduces vampires and werewolves (enough to populate a whole island), princesses locked in treehouses making ropes out of hair, and evil recurring side characters and their talking dog from heaven: rangedtouch.com/2026/10/23/t...

Really sad about what happened to Bioware. This year in the industry has been one heartbreak after another. Mass Effect is one of the rare games that had me drawing fan art and ME2 is probably the only game I completed 100% (omg these pieces are old!! 2012 and 2011, but I still like them)

In 2016, we published potentially the largest single feature to ever appear in Game Informer magazine with a full oral history of the legendary studio, BioWare. We've made that feature available online following reports of the studio's impending closure. gameinformer.com/feature/2026...

There's probably a longer personal essay in this but it's hard to underestimate just how defining Bioware was for an entire generation of social media users, the same generation that largely shifted to Bluesky

I would never have made Real Hero Shit if it weren't for how Dragon Age Inquisition blew my mind and showed me what was possible in narratives. DA:I also famously made me realize I was nonbinary. Both of these things massively impacted and improved my life. The teams at Bioware deserved better

Oh Bioware 😢 thank you for the memories, for the beautiful stories, and the games that will stay in my heart forever!

bioware also walked so that baldur's gate 3, one of the biggest success stories of the past decade, could soar

it's also notable that, like, three games heavily inspired by mass effect are slated to come out next year. there is still IMMENSE hunger for this type of game

There is something so soul crushing about creating art that pushes the needle in the games industry, only to be thanked by using the capital gained from said art to push the ones who created it out of a job.

Electronic Arts closing BioWare, laying off hundreds: aftermath.site/electronic-art...

This is just a gamer's talk, the musings of a 36 yr old. But this is really brutal. Hard to say how much KOTOR, Mass Effect, Dragon Age, Jade Empire, all the weird bits, drama, melodrama, comedy, words and words, performances, game mechanics, have influenced me. Which is to say: monumentally.

BREAKING: Electronic Arts is cutting 400 jobs and shutting down BioWare, the legendary development studio behind Dragon Age and Mass Effect. www.bloomberg.com/news/article...

I dont lament, necessarily, the loss of a new Mass Effect. One of my favorite series of all time. I lament the gradual destruction of the studio and people who made it, and who, if given the chance, could make more great games.
