NRA nuts only response to shootings are "need good guys with guns" to handle this. Funny, they don't say tornado destruction needs good tornados for protection. It only seems to apply to life-taking guns.

Now, it's time to help women in California who have been punished for being raped, sexually harrased, and sexually abused by powerful, rich, old white men. Our US Justice system, as it stands, assumes surviving women are liars, it's ok to retraumatize victims in court, & witness intimidation is ok!

This thought breaks me. Cause I've seen how bad it's been for us Gen Z and now people even younger than me are dealing with this. We simply can't have a safe society with easy to access guns. This is unreal.

I was an anxious child in the 60/70s when I lived in fear of getting a spit ball in my hair. I don’t know how I would survive as a kid in school now. I cannot imagine the world these kids experience.

Republicans only see children as expendable rape toys, and Democrats take their marching orders from the same billionaires as Republicans. Neither party does anything because neither party wants to. America has been choosing to let children die for 30 years.

When I’ve expressed the fear I feel when dropping off my kids at school, I’ve had smart people look down at me and say “mm, yes but statistically school is a very safe place ” But the compounding trauma we allow to exist in this country is intolerable.

The Onion hasn't published a ‘No Way To Prevent This,’ Says Only Nation Where This Regularly Happens story yet this calendar year. I think they've given up. This country's leaders have failed two generations.

Statistically, the average American school is the most dangerous educational institution in the developed world, because school shootings mostly don't exist outside of the United States bsky.app/profile/unsu...

As a horrified Brit, for all the usual reasons I also have another question. Why schools? Why has shooting up schools specifically become a trend over there? I know other mass shootings happen, but what has caused people to regularly target children and teachers?

I disagree with this take. Schools all over the world have cell phone restrictions, but students don't have to call their parents for help, because there are no school shootings! The guns are the problem, and more children will die as long as we allow the Supreme Court to exist in its current form.

My kids survived 2 bomb threat evacuations, 4 shooting threat lockdowns, and 1 active shooter, after 5 years of active shooter drills. After graduation day, I found myself overjoyed they survived school like it was a 12 year tour of duty in Afghanistan... We're not going to make it like this.💀

A mother who survived a school shooting 23 years ago found herself living through that nightmare again when her sons were at the school targeted in yesterday's attack. The fact that she was able to reach them during the crisis says something about how differently these situations unfold now.

Here's the thing.. it'll probably have third-generation. The women's grandchildren will get a piece of the family trauma. Nothing is changing. Just another day in America.

It's quite telling that I have no memory of the 2001 shooting mentioned in the article. I was just about turn 22 and in college, so it's possible I saw a headline that day and nothing more.
