Jesus Christ: Japanese horse girls have to cancel their two-day concert in Los Angeles because the Trump administration repeatedly refused to issue visas for performers to enter the U.S. I personally would not piss off the anime demographic two weeks before Election Day: umamusume.com/news/100113/

You know, I’m a pessimist by nature. I doubt this will do anything to move the needle against the republican party. BUT, it would be super hilarious if it was a massive shut-out and future politics would have to fear if the anime horse girl demographic is too powerful to ignore.

Cue crusty old American politicians dressing in Gold Rush cosplay and holding Haru Urara vigils before a bunch of confused normies and one or two younger guys that are disappointed because the guy courting them isn’t 2D.

This really should not be anyone's tipping point. Regardless, I'm personally far more concerned with results than the causes of them for the time being. I feel bad for the performers. Getting jerked around like that is exhausting and stressful.

The answer to your question is a shockingly deep rabbit hole. The short version is that there is a sizeable media franchise where the core premise is surprisingly detailed depictions of Japanese race horses from the past 50-odd years as anime girls attending an academy and performing in concerts.

Imagine my shock that it's not some crazy transracial equine operation 😭 I like this explanation a lot more.

The same happened for the Wuthering Waves concert it really shows that America fully turns into a xenophobic and racist country who sets to shut of itself more and more from anything outside I wonder when America outside to ban every outside media I think they find a reason to explain it

this is what killed the Nashville Zoo's 'Zoolumination' that was so popular every year. The Chinese workers couldn't get their visas to come here.

It is an interesting thought that there are now undoubtedly people out there who have finally become radicalized against the US government because the voice actress for their favorite race horse from the 1990s was denied entry into the country.

Yes, esp. if the anime demographic is similar to the K-pop fans. I was amazed when they took over a hashtag on Twitter to get rid of the racists. Go, horse girls!

its my understanding that we regularly deny visas to performers from other countries. i've bought tickets to several concerts over the years that got cancelled because the band never got their visa, and those were bands from places in europe. i don't think they get their visa fee refunded either.
